Adding 12v for USB Port Drivers Side

I want to add a 12v outlet somewhere on the drivers side footwell area to add a USB power port for charging my cell phone, etc.. I will be mounting the phone on the left side (drivers door) of the steering wheel and I would like to know what I can tap into in that location. Ideally it would be switched and not constant, but I don't think it would matter as I won't have the phone plugged into the dock when I am not in the car. I would like to hide it as best as I can. I will used a Griffin USB adapter that draws up to 2A, and my phone draws just over 1A with everything running, so I need it to supply at least 2A when tapped.

Any ideas?

For that kind of power, your *safest* bet would be to tap the wires that feed the factory lighter in the center console. Plus, it is switched.

New Mini Stuff sells a plug in lead for this as well if you prefer to not tap into the wiring.
