Can I add an aftermarket toggle switch in my bank for PIAA driving lights?

Hi All,

I've spent over an hour searching the site, and have found tid-bits of answers, but no thread that seems to directly answer my questions. Forgive me if this has been asked and I missed it.

I want to add some PIAA driving lights to my 2011 R56 'S'. I'd like to add the switch in the empty rear fog toggle spot. I'd like to purchase an aftermarket toggle with LED that looks similar to the factory toggles, but is not factory.

Can I add a standard type switch into this location and run the wiring to it? Or is there not space to allow this?

I have been unable to find a thread that seems to easily show how to take off the toggle bank and what is behind it (I am visual and prefer pics when possible).

Thanks!

Not without cutting out part of the plastic micro switch panel that i behind the cover. And cutting it out will make the other swtiches not work.

The micro switches n the panel are momentary contact for the computer that runs all the lighting and windows in the car.

OK - thanks. I appreciate that you took the time to explain why vs. just saying no.

Thanks again.

What have you decided to do instead?

I wanted to do this same thing, but it sounds like it is impossible. I still think there has to be a way. Someone must have a picture of the circuit board that we could look at.

There is no circuit board per se. It is all part of the heating and AC controls

I know a couple of people that have tried it and ended up having to purchase a new #1 below. Not a cheap mistake.
