Removing R56 xenon headlights?

Hello, I am trying to do the joey mod on an R56. During the process of removing the headlight I was turning the nut and the bolt broke free of its housing. Now when I try to remove the nut, the bolt just keeps spinning. This happened on both the left and right headlight. Has anyone had this problem or issue and has a remedy for it?

I am very proficient at removing stuck bolts, however I dont know what the back side looks like so I cant see if its possible to replace it with just a regular stock nut and bolt from auto zone or what not. It seems like the bolt is pressed into some sort of plastic housing... so I dont want to remove the bolt if I cant reattach the bolt at some point after I cut the bolt off. Hopefully a zip-tie might suffice?

I broke one of mine. I had to try to hold it on the backside with needle nose but it was corroded on there. I ended up cutting and drilling it all apart. The metal nut spins within the molded plastic I think. The clip that slides on from the side and bolt were like $8. Not each per-say but still repairable. My dealership had the parts in stock.
