Anyone moved rev counter closer to steering wheel?

OK, it sounds weird. I have my steering wheel set so low that I can't see the top of the rev counter - I miss from 2 to 6! (I have neck problems which create pain if I have the wheel higher.)
The rev counter is set a long way back from the wheel, I guess so that JCW has room to put their gear-change light accessory.
Has anyone tried to move the rev counter closer to the steering wheel where it's easier to see fully?

2nd! Would love to know how - I don't plan on adding gauges and my JCW cut-off at the top keeps bugging me for some reason.
