I've giving up on trying to get one of our dealers to program my rear fogs. So now I'm looking for a member or someone with the NCSExpert that can program them.

Could Greasy's Garage program the rear fogs on the R56?

Just got a call from Mini Of Peabody and they got an anwer from Mini and were told that Mini is not supporting the retrofit of rear foglights in North America.

So I guess that ends that......

So if you hear of anybody with NCSExpert in New England, let me know.

I'll let you know. I have several threads on acouple of BMWs forums about finding someone with NCSExpert.

I've been in contact with Pete at Greasy's Garage down in Worcester, MA about the rear fogs. He suggested that I add a switch an 12v relay and wire it myself.

I just contacted a garage up here in Freeport, Maine that specializes in Mini's and BMW and they say they can do it! I made an appointment with them on the 29th and will let you know how it works out.

Well, I had my appointment yesterday, but I did not have the outcome I was hoping for. They worked on the car for almost 4.5hrs and still could not get them to work. They were finally able to change the VO number, but had trouble with one of the modules updating. They believe they were having trouble with their computer not being able to update my modules in the car. They gave me a pretty hefty bill for all the time they spent on it. I expressed my displeasure (Very Politely!) at the size of the bill. I explained that the dealers that were able to do it had only charged $150 for labor. They wanted me to come back next week and they would try again when they could get some tech support on why they couldn't get the modules updated. I asked if there would be additional charges and they said probably another 1 - 1.5hrs which would put the install at $500+. I told them how disapointed I was and was not sure if I would be back and left. I was about a mile away when they called me and said that they had credited my credit card for the full amount since they had not done what they said they could do and would like me to come back next week so they could try again. I believe that they did the right thing and I have made another appointment for next Thursday. I still believe in them and will keep you updated.

Well, they spent another 5 hrs on the car today and still were not able to get them to work. They totally updated the car software to the newest one available (Not sure I like the changes to the Speedo readout.....) When they went to change the VO number, the $5AA is not available on the drop down menu, so I am assuming that they were able to input it another way. They told me that they were able to update 2 of the modules, but every time it gets to the third module (He is telling me the instrument cluster) that he gets an error message and it won't go any further (That was the same module that he was having trouble with last week. He thought that by updating the whole car (2.5hrs) it would solve the problem, but it did not.). He is using Auto Logic (?) to do the programming. He is now trying to contact somebody over in England (Auto Logic) to see if they can help. They are now becoming very frustrated with this process. I feel for them as they have spent a LOT of time on this.....
Stay Tuned.....

Well, they are finally working!! It took them another 3 hrs today as they had to contact AutoLogic in England for them to write another "go-around" for it to work. It looks like the main problem they had was that they (AutoLogic) uses the latest software from BMW for programming and that BMW had taken out the "retrofit" for the Rear Fogs on US Cars, so they did not have that option to choose from the drop down menu.
The company is called Autowerkes in Freeport and yes, I would reccommend them. I asked them if they would do it for others and they said they would, but it would be on a Time and Materials bill. Now that they have figured out how to do it, it should go pretty quick the next time. One recommendation I would make would be, if at all possible, would be to get your software updated before you go. That would save atleast a couple of hours of time. The person to talk to, would be Voit. He is the owner. Incase you are wondering, they charged me $200.
If you have any other questions, let me know.

Jerry, I know of Autowerkes in Freeport. To bad my MCS didn't have the fogs and switch installed before I took delivery of it because I purchased it in Brunswick.

I'll give them a call when I finally get the switch and panel installed. Thanks for the update.

Did get it done

Hi, I found an independent with the Auto Logic Rig. It took 5 hours but it now works. They have been OK for almost 24 months. I don't know if this is related, but my BLuetooth has stopped working and I can't verify that it was working after the programming.

All in all it was a painful process that cost over €1000, but my car is legal in Finland.
