non hid cooper to hid cooper

Anyone have a MINI without hids that wants to switch over? But don't want to pay BMW their prices. I did a mod using factory original hid projectors I got from dartauto.com and an after market hid kit (6000k) and pit them together for half the price of BMW

Dartauto.com pm#s: 63127198740 & 63127198739 price 450 and change. Also allminiparts.com for the head lamp washer caps. The wire harness is the same to feed the headlamp assemblies. All that needs to be done on the assemblies is cut the two wires that feed the ballasr and swing them up to where the hid bulb is. Next the after market hid bulb base has to be trimmed slightly with a pair of dykes. You can use the housing that holds In the original hid bulb to hold down the new aftermarket hid bulb so the retaining springs have something to hold the bulb in the housing. And that's pretty much it. Other than that u will need bulb out warning resistors but where u buy the aftermarket hids should have them.

Has anyone installed an HID kit into Moss (or equivalent eBay) "halo" headlight housings? This seems like it would be an even cheaper way to go...
