Secret Ian Cull Single Click Mode!
Hi there, in looking for the source code, we found that there is a "single click" mode for the Auto-Up circuit. It wasn't really broadcast because there's a danger of really pinching something in the window if it's enabled.
Here's the secret if anyone wants to know it:
Enable Double Click Auto-Up mode.
Hold the door lock button UP for MORE THAN 15 SECONDS (if you can see the led on the board, it will flash twice as fast as normal).
While holding the lock button up, double-click up the window that you want to have single click mode work on!
That's it.
I tested it with the V6 circuit (latest build style and what FES is currently making) and it works. I don't know if it works in earlier version.
Please don't enable this if you have kids that keep screwing with the windows, as it can really pinch stuff hard. You use it at your own risk!

Sure!
Ian's firmware is actually very, very good, as the almost 2000 owners of various versions of this know. Anyway, everything can be turned on and off via the toggle panel.
Check this out for the current documentation. Things are turned on via holding the lock button up for 5 (or 15) seconds to enter into enable mode, and they are disabled by holding the lock toggle down for 5 sec to enter into disable mode. While holding the lock button either up or down, the individual buttons then program the individual features. It's all covered in detail (except the secret single click mode) in the documentation.

If you don't have one of them you can get it directly from me (www.fes-auto.com). Aaron at www.outmotoring.com and Way of www.waymotorworks.com (both NAM vendors) carry them as well. If you're near either one of them, they can install for you, or if your ordering more than just this, they can save you some money on combined shipping. It's all good!

Ian Cull shared this with me via email years ago (after I asked him about it). I deliberately never posted it (even though I use it) because I figured there is a reason it wasn't made public... potential liability issues. After all, unlike cars that "officially" support 1-click up, the MINI does not have a sensor to tell the window to roll back down when there's an obstruction.
However, if it turns out that Ian doesn't mind this being posted, then that's fine by me!

I talked to him about it...
so it's no big deal. But we cover our a** by having some huge boilerplate leagaleze on one of the pages of the manual. Basically, it's use it at your own risk....
I posted it for a couple of reasons. In some threads there's mention of it being found accidentally, though no one ever discoverd how they'd done it, and several people had asked me if FES could do it on future revs. I'm just happy we don't have to re-write the code to make the customer happy!

Really?
It only enables if double click mode is already enabled. And it helps to see the LED when you put it into the proper programming mode (fast blinking). On my car I dropped the little access panel to see the LED blinking. Edges post that Ian shared the secret years ago means it's been in the firmware for quite a while.

The best way to find out...

Auto-Up Install
Thanks for the secret single up information. I just installed my Auto-Up a couple of weeks ago. This is far and away the best modification I have installed. It makes driving the car so much more rewarding with the DSC default off feature. I am finally in control (without having to manually delet this dangerous feature)!
The secret install will just make it that much better.
If you don't have one......Get it!

This was one of the first Mods I did, a absolute must have if you drive a manuel tranny. I have it set up for both windows. The only thing I don't like is it knocked out the other auto functions that worked from the key fob, unless I did something wrong.

I can't see how that would happen
All the circuit does is act like automatic fingers that press buttons. I'm baffled by that one. Try removing it and see if your automatic features come back. But really, I can't see how they interfere with each other.
We're thinking of looking at how all the remote stuff works to add features to the remote buttons, but that won't be till next year.
Thanks to all for the kind words on this product!
Also, we figured out something with enabling the single click mode. Once you program the double click mode, the circuit needs a power cycle before it will let you program the single click mode.
