Electrical Hidden radar install
It's definitely not as effective or reliable as radar detection, but I've picked up on the laser scattering from the cop lasing other people's cars ahead of me, before it was my turn and the laser detector *really* screamed at me. Also, the laser beam diverges faster than most people think, so it's possible that the cop could actually illuminate other cars in addition to the one he's locked onto, even without scattering.
In short, if I had a radar-only detector that I was absolutely in love with and wanted to keep, I probably wouldn't buy a dedicated laser-only detector to supplement the radar detector, but I'm glad the V1 has both.

I have mine mounted to the right side of the tach as far forward as can be mounted so someone walking up to the driver's side won't see it unless they sick their head inside the window which won't happen.
No problems seeing it and people don't see it though my rear window either.

pictures??
seems like it would be terrible for getting rear signals ... and front ones.
I have the V1 mounted at the top of the windshield with the remote by the right side of the tach like I posted..
Only problem with that, people can see it from behind and some will follow you since you have a detector
I would rather use their remote setup so you don't have that problem.
There is nothing worst than to have someone too close to your car so you can't slow down fast if the detector goes off. Kind of defeats the purpose of having one.

woah, never really thought people would have done that..
However, how woudl they know you had it because when your just crusing and there are no alerts, how would they notice it?
I'm not too worried about the folks following me, the easy solution to that problem is to go slower. They get board and move on. I just want something like that for theft prevention. Hanging anything in the window is just asking someone to bust out my window to take it.
And JonnyYellow is right about the only thing they "might" see is the leds for the bogey counter (could look like a compass to the rear as well).

I don't mind the remote display except it is too large. The size is OK but the depth is too big. I have seen customized ones for sale but they look hacked up. I wish V1 would come out with a more slimline remote unit.
My setup is a little unorthodox. I took my detecter apart - I took it out of the plastic case. The height is under an inch when removed from the case.
I then carefully pulled back the headliner up at the top of the windscreen, and shoved the detecter up in there. The headliner is slightly deformed when looking at the car from the front, but you have to look right at it to notice. From the inside, it's impossible to tell.
