Strange Alta driving lights question

I had my lights on and working, and then the following sequence of events happened:

1) I wanted to change out from the "mouse" switches to toggle switches, so I cut one of the lines and when I made the new connections and I could not get that set of lights working again. Long and as yet uncorrected story but I now have one switch (that was working) and one loose set of wires.

2) While waiting to fix the above issue, my car overheated (again) and since MINI isn't sure that the lights aren't part of the problem, they removed the lights and would not reinstall them (another long story...bottom line is that I need to take some lights installed/lights uninstalled coolant temp comparisons to see if they're right before I can put them back on for good).

3) Today I noticed that the one switch that was still working, well, when I turned on the car lights (not the driving lights..they still haven't been reinstalled) the mouse switch amber/green lights are not illuminated. I thought that the trigger circuit through a relay was independent of whether the "load" circuit (in this case my lights) was connected or not.

Finally, the question...should I be concerned that the switch lights aren't working?
