Newb Xenon questions

I've searched through though this part of Nam and I'm a little confused about my 05 xenons. What is the self leveling feature that people are talking about. I started to look through this forum because I took apart my xenons and painted the inside black and put everything back together. My right headlight points up a little more than the left and I was looking for a thread to aim my headlights properly. Is it trial and error adjusting the long screws in the back or is there a systematic way to aim the lights. In taking the xenons apart the housing was slightly deformed but it shouldn't be enough to make a difference.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a link to an informative site that covers aiming.

The auto levelers are actually mounted under the car. One in front, one in back.

Oh and from what I understand the right is supposed to aim up a little more to help in lighting street signs.

yes, drivers light is lower because it doesnt shine into oncoming traffic.

1st - The reason the right headlight looks like the beam is higher, is because it is designed that way. The cutoff inside of the projector is made that way. This is so that it will illuminate the right side of the road to include road signs. If you go to countries that are on the opposite side of the road the lights are exactly the opposite. This is why it is important when doing a retrofit you don't get the projectors mixed up.

2nd - The headlights have self adjusting motors built into the headlight. It is to adjust the acutal projector itself to for weight in the car and fuel level. That way the beam is aligned the way it needs to be. For example, less gas in the tank back of car weighs less so the beam will be lower. More gas and the beam will be higher and possibly blinding oncoming drivers. If the rear is inch lower, beam in front potentially could be 2 inches higher.
