problem with ALTA Boost gauge

after a couple of month of working fine, my Alta boost gauge took a crap today. The water temp gauge still works but the boost gauge is flashing red and reads a constant 30 psi (gauge max) even at idle. Nothing has been changed on the car since these were installed. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Did I just get a defective gauge?

did the gauge start to make any grinding noises on start-up before it quit?

not that I remember. The gauge still goes through it's normal startup process but once the startup process is over the needle goes up to 30 psi and stops.

I bet the sending unit has gone bad (the little box that converts the vacuum line into an electrical signal). If you unplug the sensor for the water temp gauge and then start the car the water gauge will react in the same way as the boost.

ah...good to know. Someone from Alta has already returned my email so it seems as though it will get taken care of quickly :0)
