Will this work on our R56?

Currently I am using the DynoDash SPD to monitor my water temp. It plugs into the OBD2 port. I find it a tad too bulky and an overkill for my requirements. Look below:

Since then, I have been considering an actual 60mm HKS db gauge mounted in an ALTA Gauge pod, for boost and water temp. Having 2 gauges might look too messy on the dash, so it might just be the single boost gauge. To solve my water temp monitoring issues, I came across this:

The PIVOT Water Temp Monitor.

This is the link: http://pivotjp.com/index2-e.html

In it's compatibility list, the Mini R56 in not listed. But since this item plugs into the diagnostic port, will it work on our cars?

Is the diagnostic port another term for the OBD2 port?

I have email them, but no reply yet.

What do you guys think?

Do the gauges. They look sweet and not at all too bulky. Gauges!

I am, just the one 60mm boost. I will be using the HKS db RS gauge. I am feeling the white dial but the whole dial lights up at night. So i might go for the black dial which lights up amber (the numerals only).

Here's a pic.

I was looking at adding the STRI DSD-SLM II Amber boost gauge from their Meter DSD line. From what I can see it has just about everything that the HKS has at half the price due to not having to have the control box interface. Electronic, Peak, Amber lighting to match stock gauges at night...

i'm beginning to get swayed towards the Stri gauges too. I can't decide to go for a white or black dial!

One concern for going with a new brand, the replacement parts. No one knows how Stri will deal with customers when they need replacement sensors etc.

I do know Defi parts are easily sourced.

definitely go with the gauges - mine look almost factory. Since you have the chrome interior package, however, the HKS chrome bezel should be a nice match.
