As long as it isn't a cabrio, it should be pre-wired. If it is a cabrio, then there is a chance that it won't have the wiring. Some 06's were hit and miss.

Yup. Mine was prewired and was where the DICE unit connected.

It would be in the passenger side rear cubby bundled up. You will need to cut a little tape to get to them (two connectors).

yeah...in mine ( '04 MC ) the changer wiring was wrapped with black tape and was pretty well hidden. There will be two plugs of different sizes and they both plug into the CD changer.

Crutchfield sells an OEM style changer that fits the MINI exactly......I bought that model, but on ebay for cheaper ...I believe the brand is Audio Spec, or something like that. The changer MUST be designed for the MINI if you are using the stock headunit so the HU will recognize it and control it.

I mounted it simply by buying a 2" wide velcro strap at Home Depot and screwed the 2 screws that are already there against the passenger side cubby cover, above it?, through the strap and wrapping the strap around the changer.....that way if I need to get into the tire changingkit ( or battery if it is an 's' ) below the boot floorI can loosen the changer mounting of the changer for access

of course getting an Auxillary Input plug and buying him an ipod is way better, but the CD changer approach is simpler to avoid the 'fun' of trying to explain how to change tracks in the ipod. My dad is 85 and I bought him a new FM radioCD player for his livingroom and he still has trouble using it....anything electronic is 'fun' with him too.
