Auto Meter Oil Temp Gauge

Wondering if someone could help me out. I need to find a 12V+ Switched cable and a good ground for my oil temp gauge. Does anyone know off the top of their head where to find a 12V+ Switched cable inside under the dash on the drivers side? Any info would be good . I thought about coming off the stereo switched 12V+.

Do a search for switched power. You can tap one of the wires coming into the back of the tach. I forget which one is the switched power feed. As for ground, I ended up routing it into the engine compartment along with the sensor wires and using one of the many bolts/studs that are metal.

There is a black/purple wire that is one of four on the brake light switch. This wire can be tapped for gauge power. It's very easy to get to, in front of the brake pedal arm. Use an inline fuse from it no more than 3 amps.

I used a add a fuse that you get at any parts store, pep boys or autozone. I tapped a switched fused in the fuse box on the driver's side. There are a number of 5 amp fuses that you can use. I chose a fuse that is designated for instruments. Be careful to find a switched one so you do not run your batt down. the way you can tell is if the voltmeter reads 13v when the key is out, then you have a non-switched fuse. If the meter reads nothing when the ignition key is off or out, then you have the recommended one. This way you do as little tapping into wiring as possible. I tapped of a gray with red strip wire that is the main wire harness on the passenger side under the steering wheel. Check my gallery and you will see where I tapped into.
Hope this helps.
