I just bought an Optima Red top 34/78 battery and just find that most people will use the 34R instead... May I ask if the 34/78 would work for my Mini S or should I exchange my Optima battery back to a 34R?

Any information will be very appreciate

 

The 34/78 will work, but you have to mount it 'backwards' with the terminals towards the front of the car for proper polarity. The cables will loop a bit to reach the terminals without problems. If the R version is available, it's a somewhat 'neater' install.

Since the Yellow Top is not available in the R configuration, mounting it as above is the only choice if you want to use the deep-cycle battery (this is what I did).

 

I am having trouble finding the proper Optima battery. Do you have a part number I could use for the redtop you got?
