Great Read... HID Retrofitters Guide
Heres a nice collection of info on lighting w/ lots of photos. People have photographed their OEM HIDs, and have all been categorized... Its serves as a reference for people who want to gut OEM HIDs (projectors or reflectors) to retrofit on other cars, though this may not be all that safe or legal.
It also has some tech info on lots of other aspects of lightning. Good read....

I'd like HID's on my mini, and the easiest thing would be just to swap some OEM HID housings in, and be done with it. But, the idea of creating my own projector setup in the housing i have no is also tempting, and would be unique. If only I had some spare parts.

Well, for the cooper, its easier to just buy OEM projector xenons, but way more expensive. I have friends that have put old (2000) BMW projectors in Mazda OEM housings for cheap. I think thats the idea of the link....

I think you can get projectors out of an old bimmer for around 100 bucks from a junkyard. There are also halogen projectors out there that work the same way. My old Tiburon had projectors. Im sure you could get those at a junk yard or even new for CHEAP...
