aftermarket battery in my MINI?

ok so i got a huge battery, since im into car audio, im upgrading the stock batt with this one. its alot bigger, and its about 2" taller than stock, but ill deal with that, since the box will cover it.

now. the stock batt has that little gray tube that plugs into the side, around the positive terminal. i heard that its a fuel cutoff. if thats true, what do i do about installing a different battery that you cant (obviously) plug this into?

i appriciate anyones help on this issue.

thanks.

It's not a fuel cutoff. It's the vent. Since the stock battery is in the passenger compartment, it can't simply vent the excess gasses like one in the engine compartment. The tube carry's them outside of the car. If you get an Optima or any other sealed battery, you won't need to use this vent tube.

new battery - reprogram key?

I just replaced the original battery on our 05 cabrio with a Bosch from Pepboys. Kind of pricey, but it has a 96 month warranty with free replacement for 48 months. It's also a little shorter than the original so I actually had to put spacers in underneath to raise it up enough to attach the cables.

Now the preprogrammed key doesn't perform any of its remote functions. Is this a normal result of battery replacement and is it something i can correct myself or do I need to bring it to the dealer who's 120 miles away and will give me grief over replacing the battery myself?
