CAI Recommendations for non-S R56

David, I haven't gone the CAI route yet on my normally aspirated R59 so I'm afraid I'm not much help.
I considered this aFe drop-in for a while but haven't moved on it. Too many other mods waiting for attention.

I've installed all different ones and find the DDMworks R56 non S intake to be the best and sounds super cool.
If your not ready for an intake the dry panel filter is a good option.

The K&N kit is now carb exempt in Cali. Back in 2014 I replaced the kit with my custom build so it will clear my strut tower brace. Over the last 6 years I have had to put the stock setup back every two years to pass smog. It became a chore because I started misplacing parts. Anyway, my 2011 Base is due for smog this year and several components of the stock intake setup were sprayed by paint in a freak DIY incident last year. I found out that the 69-2005TTK has been tested in 2015 to show that it's comparable to the stock set up and therefore exempt. I much prefer a half open box than a fully enclosed one, so I got the kit and passed smog. The gain is in the sound and throttle response. The performance gain as shown on their dyno chart is not detectable. 😂 The kit is a direct fit if you follow the instructions closely. It won't fit if you change the order or turn the pipe the other way. There really is not much room in there with all the stock components that must stay intact.
Almost 187K miles now, original engine, clutch, transmission, and radiator... 35+ mpg.
