We've also booked a room at the Dana, and also a room in Lincoln (don't know why I decided to go that far, but what the heck!).

 

I ended up getting a room at the Holiday Inn and Suites West Des Moines - Jordan Creek for Monday nite. Rationale: (1) relatively easy to get to from the Zoo; (2) it's close to the Rise & Shine location for Tuesday morning; and (3) free room due to cashed in club points.

 

I'm getting a little excited here...ready for a road trip!!

Nope. But based on the time-distance requirements, I'd place a good bet on I-90 to Rockford and then US-20 to Galena. The portion of US-20 west of Stockton is a nice, scenic drive.

Are the EIMers heading to Chicago planning to meet, somehow? Maybe with the CIMers? I"m not sure how practical it will be to get together, but it would be fun to see our Iowa friends.

 

I'll email you with names and cell phone numbers of our folks who I think plan to be in Chicago. I'm hoping some who've been on the fence re-post in this thread with their final plans. Perhaps you'd be willing to offer the gang a rendezvous at the Rise and Shine on Monday morning, and afterward might choose to caravan together on the follow-on transit to Galena. (The bsteigs plan to take an independent, direct route from Chi-town back to IC -- in order to swap MINIs. )

The rest of us will be waiting for y'all in Galena, and we'll try to stay in touch and plan for your arrival so we might reconstitute there into a happy MINI family again.

 

MINI USA has sent out a couple of email reminders this past week about printing and bringing along your Event Ticket. If you're registered and haven't received an email, you may want to follow-up with them.

Chicago stop is one week from today.

 

I plan on heading out from Tipton to Chicago on Sunday around 10 am. I'll be aiming at arriving at the Dana Hotel around check-in time, 3 pm. Probably will plan on stopping for lunch and a leg stretch along the way. If anyone is interested in caravanning to chicago with us, let me know.

I'm heading out a little earlier than Cindy and not going into the city. I'll be stopping in Willowbrook, then heading down to the Autobahn to await the caravan from Memphis, or wherever they are coming from, and enjoy the autocross (but not participating.) There is gambling just down the street, if I run out of fun.

 

Wish the heat wave would break, but it doesn't look as though it will forecast calls for much of the same for next week.

I think Roger said there are 5 CIMC MINIs heading back this way from Chicago. Some of them will stop at The View to say "Hey." I'll call when we get close. Maybe we can have lunch together.

Diane & I are going in Sunday to Joliet and the events at the Autobahn facility. We are overnighting up I55 and will do breakfast at Soldier Field and on to Iowa. Overnight and breakfast in Des Moines and back home Tuesday AM. The BIGMINI is looking forward to MTTS!

I sure would like to see some photos as they travel to the different cities, anyone have any links to a blog or facebook site? I looked at Miniusa facebook page and only a couple photos so far.

 

I would like to shoot some video of the MTTS "parade" as you pass by.

(I still need to scout these locations to be sure they are visually, tripod, and handicap appropriate) tentatively:

First, as you come around the curve west of Walford, at the intersection of 151 and County Trunk Road E68.

Second, south of Amana as you transit from 151 to 6.

Anyone willing to give me a heads-up by phone when you are near Mt. Vernon?
