My '09 MINI HT has hail damage on the roof (and other places) and in order to fix it they need to remove the headliner. I'm thinking airbags, sunroof. Will they get it back on correctly?? Anyone have any experience with having the headliner removed, or any suggestins/comments? I'm having second thoughts since you can hardly see the damage & I've no intention of ever selling it. I'd rather live with the teeny tiny imprints then deal with a headliner/airbag/sunroof issue.

 

Who's on tap to do the work for you Laura? That's probably the biggest variable in getting work done correctly. If they know what they're doing, it shouldn't be too much of a challenge. I think it's fairly easy to work around the sunroof, and it doesn't seem like they should have to get close to any of the airbag hardware.

If it were me, I'd make sure I had full faith and confidence in the folks doing the work and then have it done. With my OCMD, I'm not sure I could live with hail dents even if they were almost imperceptible.

 

My Honda Civic Si was broken into and the door frame was damaged, so I took it to a body shop to be fixed. I found out a couple of years later that they had removed the airbags. Seems it's a way for them to make a few extra bucks off you on the side (actually, a lot of extra bucks). And unless you're in an accident, you'll probably never know. Guess the moral of the story is to go to someone with a good rep. Hope I didn't scare you too much.
