Don't know if you all heard but Breitbach's blew up on Christmas eve :( So no more return trips to there unfortunately :(

Good luck to their family and maybe they will rebuild it.

 

Wow, that's really shocking news. That establishment seemed like it was the heart and soul of Balltown.

Looking at that photo, it's hard to imagine our row of MINIs parked out front there just seven weeks ago...

Let's hope they decide to rebuild.

Our Miata Club had just the same thoughts...we drove up towards Dubuque this summer and enjoyed the great drive in the area and dinner at Breitbach's. Would be tough to rebuild but sure hope they re-open.

Jan and I stopped there in the MINI once this summer shortly after they had reopened; the place was packed as usual. After the community had pulled together in such a dramatic way to rebuild, this really must be ripping their hearts out.

Let's hope they bring it back again...

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that Breitbach's will be open by this summer, so it should be a big GO for our November event.

Just thought I'd mention that I drove thru Balltown on the way back to Decorah on Saturday. The new Breitbachs looks practically finished from the outside -- same look and feel as the first reconstruction. Looks like they might have even used the same blueprints.

I wonder if they're installing a sprinkler system this time...
