Pretty quiet here

The Cooper SE forum on InsideEVs seems quite popular for the EV version. But not much going on here

So, starting the discussion: Who is worried about depreciation on their SE. My lease buyout is $16.2k. I've seen a 2020 Iconic with 22k miles for sale locally for $17k at a MINI dealer and that's without tax credits mentioned which could be as much as $7.5k here in sunny old MA.

Eddie the EV is, however, quite popular within the family.

cheers

Yep they did jump down a bit. During covid the sales and demand was there. Now I am finding EVs in general pretty cheap. Golf Es and others are so cheap right now.

Lots of people on here are petrol MINIs.

Well for 6 months I had one of each! Sold the R56 in June, still kind of regret that but "Barry the Cooper" wasn't getting much use and insurance rates here are very high and I have two "novice" drivers on the policy.

cheers

When I initially got my SE I thought maybe I'd only keep it for 5 years, mainly because I'm concerned about depreciation due to the battery. But I can't say I'm a fan of a lot of the changes with the newest generation of Minis, so I'm not in any hurry to get rid of it. It's been nearly 3 years already, and I think it's more or less perfect for my needs. Part of me is interested in the forthcoming Rivian R3, but I'm in no hurry. Maybe a used one down the line.

How many miles on your SE? We're "spared" that the J01 won't come here until 2026 at the earliest. I can't fathom why a 20kW increase in battery pack causes a 200kg weight increase on the J01. I've searched about for battery density figures and saw something like 240W/kg for our NCM Li-ion battery, but that may only be cells, the peripheral housing obviously adds more. The Car Wizard thought the 24kW battery from his rescued 2016 Fiat 500e weighed 272kg (600lb) - that's a meager 88W/kg overall. Speaking of 500e's, there was one for sale locally a while back for a mere $6k. It wasn't clear if it was eligible for the MA $3500 used EV rebate, but it it had been, I could have picked it up for $700 plus fees. That would have been a hoot, an EV for half the price of my bicycle!

cheers

I'm just shy of 13k miles right now. It's the car we use 99% of the time, but for any road trips we take my wife's Clubman.

I'm not too impressed with the J01 unfortunately. The whole look screams knockoff MINI to me. I think the F66 looks remarkable better. I'm kind of interested in the Aceman, though it doesn't light my hair on fire either. I'm hoping for a Clubman revival at some point, otherwise I might switch to another brand.
