Same thing, just a different name. Formula 1, Formula E, etc use Safety Car while Indy Car and NASCAR use the term Pace Car. I only watch F1 so I don't know why I called it a Pace Car.

I'd love to know what mods MINI made to the battery/motor cooling system for this safety car. It would be embarrassing for the safety car to have to pull over halfway around the track because the power output was cut to half due to overheating (as would happen with an off-the-shelf SE).
