AWE Tuning MINI F56 S-FLO Carbon Fiber Intake. Coming Soon.
You're partly correct. I spent many years in prototyping , R&D, racing and marketing in the compact market long before it was as common as today.
You keep bringing up hot air air intakes etc. Not once did I make mention to them. I understand your point, You're excited about AWE's airbox. It does look promising.
I apologize for making this public. I should have kept it a private discussion.
Have a good day.

Gentlemen, all comical ka-booooms and brotastic commentary aside, I will present data in the form of crank hp figures as well as wheel hp upon release.
A full photo set, product description, and videos will all be presented to you, too.
Aside from the aforementioned (which I know many of you are patiently waiting for) let's play nice 'round here, please.
I can say with confidence that it will not be be in the ball park of the aforementioned price. So, with that considered, the S-FLO will be almost half that price and for full carbon fiber -- composed of 3k, 2x2 twill with a UV stabilized resin.

We can all go home now.
All I know is I have your intake for my 991 TTS and it made the car sound better and drive better with the Akra and GIAC tune. Obviously it is a whole different car than the F56 mini, but my point is that I think your products are quality and I look forward to this being released. I even debated getting your exhaust for my mini before having the OEM installed JCW tuning kit/exhaust installed.
You guys do great work.

I was at AWE earlier this week having them install some goodies for my MINI and as I was leaving Josh let me me touch it!! The INTAKE, he let me touch the intake!
Now I just have to wait for it to be available and I need to pass my 1,200 mile break in period! Time to go for a drive and put some miles on the car!

I ran the BMS on my 2014 F56 MCS for 25,000 miles. Compression\leakdown was identical when installed to when I took it off my car and picked up my 2016. I ran a Scan Gauge II from day 1 to monitor the vitals also. Never a problem.
Are you running any type of software yet ?

Then without me doing a thing it would feel normal again (still in Sport mode). Then another power drop. Leaving it in Mid mode seemed to eliminate the issue, but of course power in Mid would be less than in Sport. So today I removed the BMS entirely and while I still have the drivetrain malfunction alert light lit, driving is smooth with no erratic switching to a lower Mode on its own. So it is staying off for good. I'll live with the factory tune and factory power.
I'm bringing this up because I now am a believer that mods like this intake or a true engine tune are probably more reliable long-term than tuner devices that piggyback the factory tune. So if I had to choose between spending $399 to gain 35whp (tuner device) or $450-$500 to gain 16whp (intake), I'd probably now do the intake. And as a bonus, I wouldn't have to remove the mod every time I visit my dealer. That said, I just don't trust these tuner devices. They're good, but IMO not perfect.

I've had the BMS on my '14 MCS for about a year and a half. A couple of months after I get the original, I got a drivetrain malfunction alert and over the next month or so had 2-3 occasions where the car would jerk forward and stall (limp mode). Terry revised my tuner with the newer code which is supposed to eliminate the issue. It did, meaning no erratic function and or stalling, but I still occasionally would seem to lose enough power where I'd notice it. And then a couple of weeks ago I got another drivetrain malfunction alert (normal driving) and yesterday the car in Sport mode (again, driving normal) seemed to lose the tune because there was a recognizable power loss. Like I dropped into Green mode.

which leads me to this....have you considered doing a log? i'm running a JB4 on MAP1 and MAP2 and i was a rough throttle issue @ < 3K RPM...i sent logs to terry and while we did go back and forth a few times, he ultimately delivered a firmware that worked perfectly and cleared the issues.
by now it seems you're simply not a fan of the BMS kit, but tech support does exist there for a reason. and it's also VERY easy to pull a log. if you have your laptop, it's the same as uploading a firmware. if you want to drop $30 on the JB4 android app, get that as well as an OTG cable and you should be able to automatically pull logs off your phone. really helped me a lot.
Hey Josh! Still March... still waiting. Already blew this months car money on wheels and tires so I'll have to wait until next month to buy the intake (if I like it).
On another note. I love my NM Power Module. Never missed a lick with it installed.

if i'm not mistaken, the first issue was a known bug, which was resolved with a new firmware. the 2nd issue seems to be a new one.

If anyone wants to buy mine for a fraction of what I paid, let me know. You can probably put some time into logging and working with Burger for a firmware upgrade that will work.
Pains me to type this as I had full intentions armed and ready this week, I'm all about transparency. With that said, a hiccup occurred, and I had to bump the release a few days.
Bear with me for one more weekend, my friends!

Damn, and to think I was going to hit up TAG Motorsports today and have them preorder me one. Oh well! You saved me money for other other mods!
Not sure why this would prevent you from doing the aforementioned, pert. It's only a matter of a weekend and some change. By all means give TAG a shout
