Since we're back on this subject...

What are the pros/cons with these 3 choices vs the ATI ???

I'm married with 2 teenage boys and don't have funds to feed them and buy race quality components.
She's my daily driver and I do plan on doing an occasional track day or autocross event.
116k on the odometer so I'm pretty sure I have a ticking time bomb !?

I just bought an ati crank pulley with 2%overdrive and a 15% super charger pulley. Having them installed on Thursday. Cant wait...Ill let you know how it feels...Everything Ive read its supposed be very smooth idle....and a great combo with a 15% sc pulley.

I suggest the ATI pulleys, 0 or 2%. I believe the price is the same for 0 or 2%, so I would go with the 2% to spin the supercharger a little faster and gain a little boost.

Just got my car back. Installed the 15%sc and 2%ati and I love this combo. This is how my mini should have come from the factory, smooth power through the whole rpm range. Car is noticeably louder as well combined with JCW air intake. If you have a 15% definitely go with the 2% ati...if you have a 17% then go with the 0%.

Ati +2%

I have an 06 R53 with Airtec Intercooler, 15% pulley, cold air intake, PTO gear delete and electric water pump and I've just fitted the ATI +2% damper in the last hour.
My R53 had a ticking sound from the front of the engine from about 3500rpm and I'd heard of other people with a similar noise that they'd tied down to the damper. I'd also heard of a lot of cases of dampers self destructing so thought it might be a good idea to replace the OEM damper before it blew up.
Straight up, the ATI does feel a bit smoother when cruising and it feels a bit snappier from 3000 with the +2%. There is no more ticking noise above 3500rpm either.
I'd recommend replacing your EOM with one!

I put an ATI Super damper on my 04 Cooper S (255000 miles) to replace the second failed stock damper a month or two ago, and now I have to pull it back off to get into the timing chain cover. Anyone have to pull one of these ATI super dampers? I need to know which of the bolts to remove to use to attach the puller to, and what size threads are they. My inclination is to remove the three 12 point head bolts...

Many times they just fail without warning. Sometimes you can get belt noise from them before they fail.
im in the process of buying an 06 mini S with 111k on it and the owner has only had the car for 5k but installed an alta lightweight crank pulley at some point says its 0% id like to replace it with this ATI instead of an oem. but are the bearings already ruined??? please help i need this car to be reliable

Their is prob some more wear on the bearings depending on how long it's been on the car. But if it's not knocking they are still ok. So I'd just go to the ATI and not look back.

R53 crank damper best option for my 17% reduced super charger model s mini.

First off the quality is superior to any other available, the fit is perfect, and dampening is even improved. On my own personal car I even noticed it to be smoother cruising down the highway. And of course we've been using it on our race car without failure, so we know it can take abuse.

And we do still offer it in our WMW exclusive 2% overdrive.

Please post any questions you have, or if you have one please post your thoughts.

plain and simple, this is a replace once and forget about it part. They are rebuildable, but have yet to hear of one needing it.

Yes the ATI damper is by far the best option for any supercharged R52 R53 no matter what other mods it has.

But with a 17% I would only recommend the standard size rather than going to the oversize as this will have the best tight belt tension, and not overspin the supercharger.

The stock size ATI damper is actually .8% larger than stock, reason is the design of the damper can't be made any smaller due to the internal weight size. Our WMW 2% oversize ATI is 2% larger than a stock damper. Now just remember that is 2% on the crank, that does NOT equal 2% on the supercharger. With the stock size ATI the most boost increase I've seen is .5lbs. With the 2% I expect the most you'll see is 1.5lbs more.

Question.

I am interested on buying this ATI damper - Stock size ( 0% ) not the the 2%.

My setup is all stock ( no pulley mods on SC )... since you are saying this stock ATI damper is 0.8% larger than stock what will be my belt size? can I still use the stock belt size?

my car is R53 2004
