NS1 and NS2 Cams
Hi all, there was this thread on the NS regrind camshafts, and due to the all too common throwing of feces and other useless content, the thread was closed. I'll be harvesting some information from the thread and adding it here. Anyway, if you have questions please feel free to ask....
So why is FES starting this thread? Well, just like the InvisiLens that rkw came up with, the NS cams are being distributed by FES for the originator (Lynn Gleason) and manufacturer (Crower Cams). FWIW, they will be up on our site in a bit, but till we get all those retail ducks in a row, you can buy them from an ever growing list of outlets. Currently these places sell them:
Detroit Tuned
Mynes Performance
Thumper Heads
Way Motor Works
Workin' Mini
FES Auto
Anyway, I'll be adding to the list as the resale channels grow.
Matt

Hey dustinhxc,
Like others, I am trying to decide on the cam I want; so which NS cam are you running, 1 or 2?
Please tell us more; when do you start to feel the cam pull and when do you feel it roll off?
Do you have a tune with the cam?
Last one (from me) are you also running the Nitro/Crower Spring and Ti Retainer set?
Thanks!

Hi all,
the NS1 is designed for a bit lower RPM range, and the NS2 is designed to pull up to and above 7000. Both will work well without tunes. They are relatively mild lift, with agressive ramps to get longer duration. There are details on the FES website here.
FWIW, I've got 3 NS1s and 2 NS2 on the shelf right now!
Are these for the highest HP at highest RPM? Nope... But unlike some other cams, you won't find a drop in low RPM torque.
FWIW, I've got a coated NS1 waiting to go into my car, and I have a mid-valve Endyn head (along with a bunch of other goodies).
If you want a coating on the cam (solid film dry lubricant, PTFE), FES is happy to ship directly to your coater of choice and you can pay for the coating directly as well as arange shipping. So no mark up from FES on the service. I used Cradin (www.cradin.com). The coating cost about $55.
For those that are hot for the cam numbers, I'll be posting scans of the cam cards on the FES website shortly.
