Here's a question about modifying an NRP exhaust for more HP.

The NRP system sounds a lot like stock, but a little sportier. I don't have any real dyno numbers on it, but I hear they aren't impressive. The design is very simple with nice straight flow until you get to the battery box, where it turns outward, then hairpins back toward the center of the rear valance to exit in the stock position.

See link for pic:

My guess is that the bends in the last few feet of the system cause HP-robbing backpressure, right?

With that in mind, would the following be justified?:

Cut the pipe off after the second muffler and add a short exhaust pipe positioned like a standard Cooper. I'd have to use either a standard Cooper OEM or aero kit rear valance.

Interested to hear your thoughts. JR

Is it really going aronud the battery box, or do they need
the extra twisties to fit in the second muffler.

If it's the battery, why not move that, and go straight
to the center exit?

Jaylar,

Anyone? Anyone? Are you by chance a Ben Stein fan? Remember Ferris Bueler's Day Off? Anyone? Anyone?

Jay -

Look at the magnaflow and then tell me its that little bend that is stealing all of the horsepower.
