Im in the process of sticking cp forged pistons in my engine and arp studs ,rod bolts etc.The head is ported and polished and has enlarged valves .The car is running at abput 245/50 bhp at the flywheel. So i wounderd if its worth fitting a cometic head gasket and if indeed it realy is a worth while expence.Or are the bmw oem ones fine to use.

The Cometic is a multilayer metal gasket as is the OEM, the main advantage comes when using a larger bore because the Cometic gasket can be made in custom cylinder diameters and thicknesses; the stock gasket come in one bore size and two thickness sizes.
I’m using the Cometic plus ARP head bolts (ARP studs weren’t available then) and there is no coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant after 28,000 miles using a 19% pulley.

Sticky copper stuff you spray on the gasket to add in adhesion. You should be able to buy it at any local autoparts store. Just ask them for copper gasket prep.
