what Pulley to pick?

Ok so ive heard the 19% reduction pulley is toooo much ...its not safe as the supercharger isnt meant to be spun that fast....i was reccomended the 15% reduction but i saw that the jcw minis come with a 14 so...so should igo in the middle and pick a 17 percent reduction ?....or is the 17 falling into the 19's category of being unsafe for the supercharger......any opinions ...i want a big bang for my buck buttt i dont wanna blow my engine either ....im not worried about warrenty at all but i dont wanna have an unsafe MOD so any suggestions on pulleys.( size/brand/material ) and any other suggested mods would be appreciated to.

Thanks

Hey there,

I have the 15% pully from MINI-Madness - I love it. Any name brand pully should be fine. As far as %..... the 19% is great !!!!! but you need to carry an extra belt ( just in case ). 15-17% are really safe with a great track record. Shop around and have fun - I did replace my stock belt with the JCW one - just to be on the safe side.

I have the basic mods to my MINI - CAI, pully, and cat back exhaust - once you get the pully you might want to get the ECU re-flashed to the JCW program - it does help.

Good luck

19% is great if you keep everything cool. if you want safe go with the 15. but there are 3000 post about this same thing. try a search.

15 % are "safer"

a good even eventual combo is a 15 and a 2% crank pilly
you dna do it in 2 steps and gain less pully weight

I have a BRAND NEW 15 % webb for sale

where are you ?
I can do the install of pully and or crank pully

People say bad things about the 19%. They heard that waterpumps are spinning to fast and they heard it's too much.

I've read a lot on here and I have yet to actually see someone say that something bad happened to their personal car from using a 19%. I'll be going with a 19% once it's warmer and I wouldn't even consider something else.

Certainly it's your car you can do whatever you want with it...I've also heard that a 19% pulley causes the supercharger to generate too much heat...I guess it depends where you live and how hard you drive your car if this will be an issue or not. In other words you may not end up producing as much more HP as expected.

Good luck!
