what would happen if you tuned with higher compression pistons with lower boost? what kind of effects would that have (not speaking of the MC just in general)

Faster spool up... But I wouldn't suggest going over 9:1. The honda guys run that a lot.

how much pressure can the minis handle? faster spool up seems worth the trouble to me. that mixed with a little turbo could be pretty cool.

or a built motor with a big turbo and high compression. if you could cut lag on a big turbo seems like that could be a good set up if you have traction.. am I wrong?

Well traction is deffinately an issue on a MINI, any FWD for that matter. What type of power are you looking for? A 28rs will spool up pretty fast on the stock motor.

Not sure what the stock motor can handle. But mine has ARP head studs and CP pistons with stock compression. And I have been up to 32psi with no problems.

well I have a cooper, so if I turbo with highboost I will build my motor entirely. (kind of a futuristic thing that I will do) but im studying it now so I get it done completly right... I will be looking for anywhere from 350 to 415. basically something insane but without a huge kick. im not terribly into drag I prefure hitting up an autocross or track. so I want it to be drivable via out of turns exc without on off power. (but lots of power at the same time.)

Plan on building a stroker motor if you want something to spool fast enough for an autocross. I believe you would be more interested in doing a rotrex blower on a built motor.

In first and second traction is hard enough to come by at 300whp, not to mention trying to put it down exiting a corner. Unles you are running some wide *** tires in the front I would say 250whp would be all I would want at an autocross. But good luck to you. Glad to see more people are looking at modifications that actually make hp...

my thoughts exactly. thats kinda why I was thinking of a set up that would be much like a really powerful built motor. pulling strong at mid range rpm (enough to pull out of a corner without smoking the tires like your in rain/having to give it very little throttle) yet have ALOT of power on the straights. seems kinda hard to do.. but ive driven a gp alot and I know Im looking for more than the lower 200

Hahahaha. I seriously doubt a GP makes even close to 200whp. See if you can't get a ride in a twincharged or turbo only car.

nothing substitutes cubic inches but if you're building a small car and want a sporty version, a quick way to give it some power is forced induction. the cheapest being s/c . does it stress the engine ? of course . would you want to stress it more for more power or invest in some head work that if done conservitively will add power without sacrificing longevity ?
