Drivetrain Intake and Exhaust installed
Pulley goes on tomorrow or Wed., but in the meantime, I'm enjoying my new Mania intake and NRP exhaust. Will have the car dynoed after the pulley goes on and post results. Impressions: My loaner car was a Cooper with Mania airbox and exhaust, so it screws up my perception a little when trying to compare the stock "S" to my newly modded one. Can't honestly say whether I feel the extra HP or not. The airbox really lets the supercharger sound sing. What a great sound. Have not heard others, but can't imagine they're much louder. Not much intake growl, just whine. Nice fit and finish on the install.
The Exhaust: I'm amazed at how quiet it is. Again, I've been driving a Cooper with a Mania exhaust, which is easily three times as loud. At WOT, the NRP is sportier than stock. Only slightly louder (in the cabin, at least) at idle. Maybe it's not as quiet outside as inside because of the location of the first muffler. Definitely no drone at any rpm range.
If you're looking for a little extra HP (presumably), a significant weight reduction and almost no noise increase over stock, the NRP could be the ticket. Pretty pricey though. My guess is Quicksilver would have been more my style. Anybody want to trade?
Strut brace goes on when the pulley is installed. They didn't want to have to remove it to do the pulley.
So in the next couple of days, I'll have finished for now:
Mini Mania intake
MM strut brace
MM rear adjustable swaybar
MM springs
MM three-piece pulley.
Life is good. JR
