Oil Catch Can at work....

So I installed an Alta Intercooler Air Diverter today and took the opportunity to clean the IC for the first time since I installed the OCC (which from memory is at least 20K but I can't remember for sure).

Anyways, I had a tiny bit of oil in each intercooler boot and almost nothing from the intercooler. I was very happy with the functionality of my OCC. Also flushed the IC with brake cleaner and had a slight tint of yellow.....

I had changed my oil around 2K ago and had about 1/2" of dark black oil in the can (no water either).

Before I had installed the OCC I had found a large amount of oil in the boots and the openings of the IC.

Here are some pics showing the oil on a clean rag:

Post intercooler boot:

Pre intercooler boot (this looks like dirt to me)

Here's how I have my can mounted:

And here's the hard grey line you tap into off the PCV:

Your configuration really traps oil. I see similar results.

I wonder why people run the lines differently then. It doesn't seem to me that an additional can is really needed either.

I don't even have anything in the can or a tube - it's just the plan empty aluminum can.
