Drivetrain Alta IC Air Diverter Install
Alta IC Air Diverter Install
Installed my Alta IC Air Diverter today. Got red boots and tee'd the sprayer into the rear windshield wiper line.
I also replaced all the torx bolts on the IC with stainless steel bolts with socket head caps - much easier to work with. I hate those damn torx bolts!
Here are some pics from the day:

How I ran the line to the washer reservoir:

Oh and btw my kit did not come with any hose so I had to go out and buy 6ft of 5/32" washer fluid line hose.....

Yep, that's what the instructions said. The Alta meets up with the top of the hood and is sealed with the rubber pieces on top as seen in the first pic.......

LOTF, did you receive the red alta intercooler boots for free with the air diverter? I figured the stronger boots came in the $160 package, but apparantly not with mine.
And Harhoosh, I also have the Alta I/C air diverter w/ sprayer and I didn't feel any performance difference from the diverter itself, but when spraying with a h20/alcohol mix the car definitely pulls stronger at WOT.

Not sure yet since it's like -10 degrees here in the north east! The true test will come during the summer months...
Yes, the red boots were included with the package. I'm actually quite thrilled because I think I must have had a leak with my stock boots before. Driving now seems much smoother and my boost gauge is no longer acting funny (it was showing boost when I was sure I wasn't on boost). I expect my mpg's to go up as well.
Btw I didn't switch out the "regular" windshield washer fluid - I'm using the Rainx orange stuff - and since it's so damn cold out, you think putting alcohol/water (50/50) is safe?

On my setup, I completely disconnected the rear wiper motor and ran the hose directly to my intercooler. I got the water/alcohol idea from a few friends who spray that over thier STi intercoolers. They said pure alcohol isn't good on aluminum and causes corossion over time, but a 50/50 mix with h20 is safe (non-flammable) and about the best ratio to go with to maximize cooling without going to expensive products. Also I don't have to worry anything freezing because alcohol has an extremely low freezing point, and I also have rain-x orange in my other front wiper resivoir.
None of the above...Get a perofrmance head...or just start improving your suspension.
