Thermal tape'd Alta CAI

Hi motorers,

BahamaBart generously gave me the rest of the thermal tape he bought. This afternoon, I installed it.

I don't have any data to show but I guess good old thermal tape can only do good things to the MINI's warm engine bay.

I did the whole CAI box, and the intake hose. I also installed some inside the inkake box, where air could come in from the engine bay. It is now completely sealed and get its air from the windshield vent and the front grill duck.
Thanks to BahamaBart!!

here are some pics of the Alta CAI with top cover, and Forge intake hose wrapped in thermal tape:

Now you need to buy another roll..

to cover the last little black hose from the radiator support to the air box, and pass the rest on to the next guy....

If you need my address, just PM

Matt

lol Nice try!

I have no idea where Bart got that stuff, but it sticks to every surface and is professional-grade material!

Just so you guys know - This is what happens when you buy a big roll - where else can I put this stuff.

It started w/ the desire to thermo-tech my DFIC. Then I moved on to the CAI. THEN I thermo-teched the bottom side of the header heat shield to reflect the heat downwards. BIG MISTAKE - the self adhesive let go and the thermo-tech touched the header and it burned and produced the worst smell.

That is why I gave the remainder to DarkMiniS to keep me from doing further fullishness.
