I promised the wife that I would be doing 2 more upgrades this season and that's it, the pulley and the exhaust(magnaflow or possibly custom). Would it be best to stick with that route or substitute the ECU in place of the exhaust? The one I leave out gets done next season. So exhaust or ECU, that's the question. The way I see it the ECU adds power through the entire rev rage, the exhaust doesn't. Granted the exhaust looks good and is cheaper than the ECU. I also don't have to ship my ECU anywhere and shipping it to the states gives me nightmares with customs etc.

I'd give the ECU route more time to be tested and developed. Exhausts just aren't going to improve much from where they are now (which is a good place to be!).

More air going through the motor means more leaving the motor. Get the exhaust and let the puppy breathe!!!

Andy, that's exactly the direction I was thinking. By next spring the ECU scene should be very well established. If your're dropping $700 on something you want to make sure it's not "New Coke" but "Cocacola Classic"

Exhaust with labor about $1000 5 HP
Pulley With labor about $400 20hp
Chip with labor $750 15 Hp
Air intake $300 5hp
I find the exhaust too noisey,I have the Quicksilver.Installed it myself, took 2 people about 2 hours. The chip and pulley void the warrenty, the other two mods don't.That said, come to Cincinnati on June13-25 and have Randy do the pulley and chip.

>>Exhaust with labor about $1000 5 HP

Ouch, that must be a gold plated exhaust. I can have the Magnaflow installed here in Canada for $1000cdn. I'm actualy working with an exhaust fabricator and may come up with a custom design for the same price.

>>Pulley With labor about $400 20hp

Yup, not a problem here, that's an easy decision.

>>Chip with labor $750 15 Hp

What labour? You pull it out, it gets flashed you the pop it back in.

>>Air intake $300 5hp

Again, what intake is this? All of them (except the ripoff that is K&N) are under $250 and take less than 20 mins to install.

I'm off to Helix on the 24th, what I'm looking for is if the exhaust or chip would be a better place to spend the money assuming I have all the above mods mentioned. As the chip is new and exhausts aren't going to change I'm going with the exhaust.

You may also want to consider a sway bar if you consider cornering being as important as acceleration for performance. I have heard many comments that the sway bar transforms the car and have one on order from Randy.

The sway bar whet in a few weeks ago and I completely agree. The best single mod that can be done, period. If you don't have the sway bar it's time that you do. It's easy to install and takes only 2 hours.
