Drivetrain JCW Exhaust Replacement Recommendation needed
JCW Exhaust Replacement Recommendation needed
Folks, I have just gotten to the point where those two big fat silver cannisters hanging down below Polly's trim lines are bugging the you know what out of me. I like the looks of the tailpipes, and the sound is okay (a little too quiet perhaps), but I'm afraid it has to go.
Any recommendations for an exhaust system with less visible cannisters and a slightly more rorty sound (with less weight as a bonus) would be greatly appreciated.

Borla Sport.
It is loud so you might want to drive in a Mini with it installed. I had the Borla Sport installed on my 2003 MCS. I recently installed the Borla Sport on my 2006 GP because I thought the JCW exhaust was too quite. I also agree with you on the looks of the JCW canisters. The Borla Sport has smaller canisters. I live in Santa Maria, CA if you want to test drive and can not find someone closer.

Hello Boneman,
I just finished to intall a Larini exhaust in a GP, removed the JCW.
the Larini mufflers are so small, they stay tucked underneath, when you look at the car from behind, you can not seen them.
Also, the larini we installed, does not have a resonator like the JCW.
Our customer liked the sound, and mentioned that he could feel an increase of torque aroud 4000
Let me know if you would like some pictures,
Feel free to call or PM if you ahev any questions
Thanks
Victor

+1 You can barely see the cans, plus the fit and sound are top notch

I like the Milltek. You can't see the mufflers from the rear of the car plus if you like the JCW tips. The Milltek tips look similiar. It also has a nice low tone to it and when opened up it sounds very good.
BTW, the JCW exhaust from the factory is a one peice kit. How would you ship something like that without it costing a fortune?

its the weight that counts. I shipped a JCW exhaust. No biggie
Milltek. No muffler hang-down. Still not too loud, but throaty. Tips look almost exactly like the JCW tips.
I'm getting one installed at AMVIV, and I was/am loking for exactly the results you describe.

The image of the guy in his swim trunks walking away is not unlike the south view of a north-bound JCW.
