Drivetrain JCW Exhaust Replacement Recommendation needed
do tell, im on the fence
Unless they have changed it (which I doubt they have), the tips will most definitely turn brown. It's just a matter of time.....
The reason the tips on the JCW do not change color is because the JCW tips are not part of the mufflers, they just slip on over the actual pipe,
Miltek and Larini tips are actually part of the muffler.

Ok Camelpilot, you have asked for it,
We sold a Koni Sport Suspension to AntiqueCarNut, due to a UPS delay (bad weather, plane was rerouted), the box got there 1 DAY late, AntiqueCarNut send the merchandise back for a full refund.
We did not bother to call him back when we got the Larini exhausts in (which he was interested in purchasing).
Nor do we intend to sell him anything from now on.
There are many vendors out there, we are not the only ones.
However we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone

After much research I went with the Milltek. I could not be more happy with it. The club I belong to has a bunch of different exhaust systems, Milltek, JCW, Borla, M7, sprint and Magniflow. If you want it loud get a Magniflow or Borla or the sprint. If you want no cans showing, deep but not loud and like the JCW look tips then it's a Milltek. The fit and finish is bar none. I got mine almost a month ago and just love it. I had done the one ball exhaust three weeks before getting the Milltek and that was nice as well.
Antiquecarnut says he was specifically interested in the Larini and then decided against it. He said to contact him in a PM if we wanted to know why.
MINI WORKS then tells "everybody" that he was the one that decided not to sell to Antiquecar, and then told "everybody" why... Isnt the customer always right? I understand it must of been a hassle to take the return and then give back the refund... but man, this is a retail customer service business.
MINI WORKS is right there are other dealers out there. Unfortunatley our choices when it comes to Larini products are slim. I am looking forward to buying some GTT products soon. Boy its a good thing that MINI WORKS doesnt sell them anymore, I would hate to wonder if MINI WORKS was going to decide to sell them to me....
I would hate for something to not be to my satisfaction with my purchase and have everbody on a public forum hear about it....
Is it just me, or is pretty much every other post I read from MINI WORKS just overflowing with tension? Whats the deal?
It looks like I will be ordering from Roland direct, which would probably be the case even if I did have a choice...
Anyhoo,
About the JCW exhaust... I have one and am pretty happy with it. I did add the MyMINI resonator delete which sounds really good.
One of my buddies has one and had the same gripes.. He paid a muffler to trim and re roll the cannisters. He then did the muffler shop resonator delete mod. His exhaust now sounds much more beefy, a little louder than mine. The cannisters are barely visible from the rear. The total cost was about $150.00. The cool thing is he also gets to keep the JCW OEM look and theme.
FWIW
that pic doesn't show how bad those gonads really look... someone will post a better pic I'm sure...
another recommendation for Milltek here, the tips look fine after 15K, only very slightly discolored, refined sound, no problems...

I'll suggest something different. How about you drop the exhaust down a bit, paint the mufflers with high temp paint, and chop off the middle resonator? This will give you a nice increase in sound, and you'll find as the cans are black they're not as noticeable. Cost is bugger all as well!
Edit: Obviously put the exhaust back up when its done being painted :D.

I went with a Zoomers system it took a little time to get used to the look two 3" tips no cans in the back at all, VERY LOUD & no power till 4000 rpm. I finally kicked it to the curb & went back to the JCW with a My Mini Parts resinator delete pipe, power's back it's a little throatier & it looks stock JCW, but then you didn't like the cans hanging down in back.
Hey!! Sump'n' hinky here. That's an MCS with a Cooper bumper!
With either MCS lower black pieces added or some really slick modding of the bumper for the center exhaust outlet. Looks cool!
Yep. Them's the 'nads.

I do! For now. I haven't posted any pics on this site, yet, and I'm not sure how.
If you can get on the MINIUSA Owner's Lounge, look up my profile (70spop) and dig through the pics there. I've got a bunch with the Panasports.
Also, there's a nice pic of a DS MINI with Panasports in this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=89521

Another option for the JCW exhaust is to paint the rear ends of the mufflers with high temperature flat black. I did this to my JCW exhaust in November '03, and it still looks good (and stealthy).
