Drivetrain Separate Alta Diverter Squirter Reservoir?
Separate Alta Diverter Squirter Reservoir?
So, I got me an Alta IC diverter with squirter, but I haven't hooked up the water hose to anything yet. I'm not thrilled about the idea of using my window washer reservoirs (with detergent or whatever surfactant or such they put in "window wiper cleaner") to spritz my IC; I don't want to disconnect any wipers, and I like being able to use the washers to WASH!!
I ran the hose to the passenger side cavity at the firewall, and I think that actually, there is quite a bit of space (enough, anyway) in there for a separate reservoir that could be filled with plain old H2O, or some other liquid that evaporates quickly and will not clog either the nozzle on the diverter spray head OR leave any goo or any residue on/between the fins of the IC.
I was thinking the switch could be a matching toggle switch to fill the lone open position in the row under my audio system?
Problems/questions:
1) Electricals?? (including safety concerns) I am clueless!!
2) Anything better than water (at cooling without leaving any junk behind and still being cheap) that could be used?
3) Any reason why any old pump/reservoir/wiring, etc. from some junked car couldn't do the trick? (assuming the parts aren't messed up and components would all physically fit in the spaces described).
Thoughts? Interest?
Thanks.

I would use the rear wiper reservoir. How ofter do you really wash your rear window? Disconnect the tubing that goes to the rear, connect the new tubing to the reservoir, fill it with distilled water, and you are done.
I have a Cabrio, so I don't have a rear reservoir so I have the same problem. I have not implemented yet, but I found a Toyota 4 Runner Rear washer bag with an integrated pump. I'm going to put that in the passenger side cavity at the firewall. I've put a switch across from the tire reset switch on the and wired it, I'll be filling it with water unless there is a better mix.
I just connected the intercooler sprayer with the rear window wiper after running water through the system a couple times to clean out any left over window stuff. It works fine and every time i spray the intercooler the rear window is cleaned, which is great because i can see who's behind me better (like the po-po) when i take off with that cooler air going into the engine. I find that water works decent enough to clean the windows up to a point and then i just wash em' by hand when they get bad. In my opinion going through all the trouble to incorperate a new system to spray just the intercooler with water just because you dont want to clean your window with water is too much of a hassle. just my two cents
Thanks to all...

On the other hand, the wiper/washer switch IS in easy reach from the steering wheel. And, since I have a hard top...
I think maybe I'll try the rear reservoir approach first. I really DON'T use the rear washer, soo....time to rinse out the system.
