from looking at the pics of the alta exhaust on alta's website, I think the wriggling effect of the exhaust is due to the "1" hanger design as opposed to the more commonly used "2" hanger design to secure the muffler in place. Why didn't alta include the second hanger on the muffler? The OEM exhaust has 2 hangers per muffler.

as mentioned in the other thread, i AM using the stock cat with the OBX header, as for the chipping chrome tips, i will have to take a close up pic to show you closer detail for you to see better...it's happened in 3 or 4 spots already.

easy enough to replace should you decide to warranty it, but like i mentioned before, it's not enough to make me hate it...the melting issue should be resolved hopefully by tomorrow, i will lower the tailpipes another 1/4 inch or so and see if that does it.

Instructions???
That's where you need to focus a bit more...your instructions for most of your products (i have most of them) are vague, hard to read and show no pictures as to what you are refering to, you should spend the time and take some detailed pics with easy to understand comments under them, shouldn't take you more than a day to do this for all your products...and i'm talking pulley/shifter/exhaust/intake instructions, etc...

The way you wrote your product instructions is as if you're writing them for people who already know what to do, in which case they would need no instructions. I can sit here an hour and type what you DIDN'T say in most of all your instructions...not to mention some missing parts that should come with some of your products, but i'm getting way off topic here...

You guys got it 95% right, it only takes a closer look at your stuff to get it 100% is all i'm saying, for the guy that's never installed anything under the hood, he will be totally in the dark reading through your current instructions.

As for your products, they are great, for the money.
The CAI lid is poorly designed (attachment/fitment), the CAI is missing a small and large hose clamps to make it complete, the pulley gives no mention how it will be tightened down once installed or the best method of raising the engine to get at it in the first place, the short shifter instructions i won't even get into...waiting to see what the instructions will be for your direct flow IC as far as cutting tabs down and trimming the scoop...

Don't get me wrong, great product, just needs some looking into to make it better.

tonester: We do have two hangers on the muffler. The inner hanger is adjustable and interchangable. We supply the inner hanger for both the 02-04 cars and the 05-06. This allows one part number to fit all models. If the hangers aren't tightened properly it could move. But as robino mentions, he doesn't have that type of movement. Thank you!

alta: my apologies to you about the hangers. I was just looking at your website's picture of the exhaust and I could only see 1 hanger.

robino: Again, I really appreciate your business and your concerns with this and every other product you have purchased from us. Admittedly, there is some truth to the comments about the instructions. They are intended to show how to install the part, and we instruct the installer that if they do not have the mechanical ability to install the item, that they need to seek a qualified mechanic. Nothing is worse that tackling a project that you can't handle. (Not a problem for you, but could be for many people.) However, we have been in the this business for more than 10 years, and I have seen instructions and lack there of, from MANY companies foreign and domestic. I can say that we have VERY good detail etc. on our instructions. But, we continue to improve them with each revision. And getting myself off topic as well, the pulley instructions now include photos etc. on how to lift the motor, and each bolt that is needed to be removed, etc. Admittedly, earlier versions did not have this detail.

On the CAI box top, the fitment is awesome. The only time we have had issue with clients with alignment is if the place the forward edge over the box and not into it. Again, a revised instruction set is now included with each box to help clients with this. If you are having another issue not related to that PLEASE let me know. The only way we can help any client with any concern is if they tell us.

WE make ourselves very available as do our customer service team. Feel free to call, e-mail or AIM at anytime. Again, not poking or picking, just want to provide you and any other client with the highest level of customer service. I look forward to speaking to you soon!

Well, since this thread started, I've painted my rear valance/actually painted all plastic body color, so i couldn't afford to have this happen again.

final solution:

lowered the tips slightly and installed a home made stainless shield
problem fixed.

Eeesh. That should not have been necessary. I have never even heard of this. In 2004 I got a Scorpion--no melting, no center muffler dragging the ground/snow, no issues. I haven't touched the thing since I put in longer flange bolts right after I bought it. I hope your heat shield works out.

robino: The bumper and the plate turned out AWESOME. Looks really kool. We do provide a heat shielding material in our kits as well, for clients that have body kits, catless exhaust etc. But that trim looks really nice! Let us know if we can ever help in the future!

Thank you to everyone at AMVIV as well for their participation!

There's at least half inch of space between the Exhaust tips and rear bumper skirt...any more room and it'll look like dog ****.

Anyone else melted theirs? Is there a fix, like a steel underplate or any kind of insulation that can be used?
That happened to me with my Borla tips couple years ago and fabbed a similar shield...

I installed the Alta system by myself. Everthing came out ok, except could never get it level. Took it to a muffler shop, they did it for $40.00, not to bad. Love the sound and performance. Would recommend it to anyone. Just wish it had come out level.

I took a look at your insulation and it took me about .75 of a second to look for the nearest garbage can (kidding, lol)

and Yes ALTA, I was actually gonna suggest you buy some of my stainless shields so you can provide your future clients with some well made and easy to attach exhaust shields with your quality systems.
