Love this car!

One question I have to ask is how controllable is the car when on boost? Is there massive torque steer? I know that Mini has done lots to counter torque steer, but that's within stock engine limits. I could see the steering lightening up to the point of being unusable! Also, how does the traction control like this much power ?

This is not criticism by any stretch, but what is left of my practical side trying to talk the little devil on my shoulders out of this mod!

In all honesty the torque steer isnt bad, you definitly have to learn how to drive it since its much different than an sc car. Traction control...welll umm no traction control doesnt like it too much. My car feels very very good its actually very impressive the the power can be put down at this level, but first gear is a little interesting

I think that was the question everyone was wondering about. WOW
Now the other big question ; $3000-$5000 ,$5000-$7,000 or $7000-$10K+? For the 300whp turbo kit only?

if you were to source your own turbo, going used. There is no reason why this kit should cost more than 2 or 3K.

All you need is an I/C and the exhaust manifold. Everything else is minor stuff. (I'm not sure if the custom intake manifold you have would be required or not, so I didn't include that in the price.)

And the understatement of the year goes to!!!! Ok if you can find the pieces for this cheap and get the intercooler piping done. Plus a water pump. Plus a fuel system. Plus some type of fuel control. And make the same numbers at that boost pressure.... It can't be done for that cheap unless you make everything yourself.

I tried the self source bit on my 911 turbo (based upon a protomotive). I saw that they were offering a collector pipe, which was essentially a cat hogged out to fit a turbo for $600! I said no way I'm paying that much, so I tried it all myself. In the end, there was a lot of engineering behind it that was priceless. I won't ever try to piece-meal it again, it actually cost me more, and I probably pi&&ed off the vendor to the point that he didn't want to help me. It also blurs the liability lines a lot, ie if something breaks, who's liable (for warranty sake)? Come on Brian, give me a price

though I am in no position to do a project like this myself, I will still strongly stick behind my comments.

People of built full turbo kits on cars that didn't even come with forced induction including an MS full standalone for less than $1000.

It seems as though the MINI community is more willing to spend money, probably cause they have more. Some people, like me are not so fortunate, yet.

yes but you have to realize... there is "building a turbo kit" and "doing it right".... this... is done right...

yes anyone can do a turbo for cheaper... GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! LOL... I know a few who have tried to save $$ and well they are rebuilding right now...

Hmm... all I could find was his reply to me:

There will be different stages and stage one will be a bolt on. I dont want to quote #'s untill we have everything set and final.

Ahh, I see it now. I thought his option#2-3 was directed at someone else. Since my car is already got JCW, I don't think I want to sink that much cash in.

A sweet spot for me is under $4K. Having done the 911 turbo for $4500, I think that's a realistic price to spend, and maybe giving an optional "less bling" option would be a good way to get there. We don't all need polished cold side tubing and custom welded stuff, some of us might be fine with unfinished alu tubing and silicone couplers. You can also spend $500 in clamps alone, which is not always necessary.

I can't find anything on your head or cam... Are these both stock?

Also, what gear did you do your dyno pull in?

Am I reading this right... You're running a 75mm TB? Where did it come from and how was it incorporated to the e-drive?

Ahhh... one more is this the 3071 or the 3071"r"?
