It has been 3 days since I installed the Magnaflow on my MCS. Initial impression - WOW! I love it!
IMO the Magnaflow is NOT TOO LOUD. A POS with burned out/rusted out exhaust is loud. The Magnaflow sings.

A couple notes on my install - 1. I used Walker Muffler mega clamps - 3" wide stainless steel band clamps with 2 bolts.
Makes for a very solid joint. Doesn't appear
welding will be needed.
- 2. System is mounted as far back as possible giving
the maximum extension of the trumpets.

I had some concerns about the volume and droneing - have no complaints at all.

To all those on the fence concerning the volume - I'm an old fart (50) and the Magnaflow isn't too loud for me. Although it is possible I am going deaf considering my advanced age.

Get the Magnaflow - this is the way the MCS should sound!!!

I'm on day two and finding all kind of reasons to go motoring, just to hear that beautiful sound, no drone at any RPM, it's almost as quiet as the stock until you get into it. I wish I had done it sooner.

I've got you by a couple years and my hearing definitely isn't what it used to be.

I just had to make the reference to age based on comments made on some other threads concerning the Magnaflow and people's opinion of it.

firenewt -did you do the install yourself or did you hire an outside shop? If you did it yourself how long did it take and what was the difficulty level and if you went to a shop how much did that cost? We hear stuff from randy all the time and sometimes it is nice to get an outside opinion. –thanks

I put my Magnaflow on myself - it takes about 2 hours and can be done with just the back of the car on ramps. The biggest pain is getting the stock hangers free from the rubber mounts - use lots of WD40 and squeeze tight with a vice grip to get it started. I also swapped it back to stock because of droning and then put on a Borla - getting faster with each swap! Strange how some 'flows drone unbearably on the highway and some don't - or is it the drivers that differ? The FAQ at mini2.com has step by step instructions using pictures I took putting the Borla on.

I did the install myself. What took the longest was getting Mouse raised enough to fit my fat bod under it.

There's been a lot of talk and debate on this. The general consensus I got was it's blamed on 1) weather conditions, 2) altitude, and 3) mounting. My situation is I'm located at about sealevel, I don't drive the car in bad weather, and I have the trumpets set out as far as they'll possibly go....gee, maybe we ought to start a new thread comparing these items to see if there is any real correlation between them and the drone.

By driver, I meant that one driver's drone is another's great sound. I am also at sea level, drove with the 'flow in good weather and got a headache after 15 mins on the highway. I didn't have the tips out as far as possible but others have said there was no drone with the tips flush with the bak of the car. It also makes a difference if you drive with the windows open or closed - mine were closed.
The best test is to get two cars - one with drone and one without and swap drivers. Unfortunately the cars that drone don't keep the exhaust long enough to find out why.
