Having trouble mounting GRS IC

This IC is substantially wider than the stock IC, so I don't have enough room to squeeze it in between the rubber couplers on each side.

Anyone else defeat this problem?

HELP!

Thanks.

I helped someone with a similar problem with the first generation alta IC.

One way would be to loosen the throttle body on the driver's side of the car. That should give you a bit more room to work.

Another way, assuming you're using the stock IC boots, would be to slide the boot all the way over the duct into the motor. Then you get the IC in place and work the boot back out and over the ducts on the IC.

The instructions that come with the GRS, as I recall, address this topic. I'm guessing you don't have this paperwork...

As said above, you can slide one of the boots a little further over a snoot making more room to get the IC situated, then slide/wiggle that boot back down the snoot, and over and onto the GRS.

Some time ago I replaced the studs that held the exhaust snoot with bolts, and I'm glad that I did. I can now easily just loosen those three bolt heads... In a situation like yours, this would afford the space you need.

Good luck!

As simple as it sounds , good old spit lube works well on the inside of the boots . The can be a bear the first few times but you learn the tricks as you go along.

You have to sacrifice some knuckle skin before it will go on .

When I installed my GTT IC with heavy duty boots - it took two of us and did not go on until fingers were pinched, knuckle skin lost and lots of swearing.

Suck it up

That's right it is not a real project untill there is a blood sacrifice to the gods of DIY.

Cheers,
