Problems M7 ags and my TAC... HELP!!!!

ok so first and foremost, this thread is not a complaint in any way shape or form... ive been more than happy with my AGS... its quite possibly the most beautiful piece of motoring craftmanship ever, and the guy (and gals) at M7 have been more than helpful with every step of my process, from purchase to install... but for this one im looking to you guys... now that ive gotten that out of the way... heres the problem...

so for Xmas i got the AGS V.3 Pro... as i said... gorgeous... after installing it, i couldnt beleive the improvements... i seriously couldnt get traction coming out of my gravel driveway... beautiful... after a couple of days though, i had a problem... coming home from my friends place on new years day my throttle completely gave out... my service light, DSC light, and Engine management light came on... my car went into that pesky safety mode... 2000 rpms... 10 mphs... the whole nine... on a 55 pmh road in traffic that was a huge problem... i work at body shop where we do restores, mods and such... so i drove it there immediately... hooked her up to the OBD II to see wat was up and got the Throttle Actuator Control code... apparantly my TAC and Throttle Positioning Sensor are shot... or dead... or just plane hate me... trully have no idea what is going on... i would have called Peter from M7 then and there... but i called him about 30 times teh day before about stupid stuff, and really just didnt want to bother him more... especially on new years... so that is where i stand... the entire front end off sitting in my shop... not sure as to what the heck is going on... if anyone has either had teh saem problem or has a clue as to what to please... SAVE ME!!!!

Once you get the code/s, search here, and on MINI2 to see what you find. More often than not you'll find a thread that can really help! Sometimes it might be something that you never thought of...

You can start now by searching this forum and the beneath the bonnet for "actuator control code" to see what you get...

There's a reason I answered your calls many many times..
I do care about the customers we sell to, so calling me
for an answer is not a problem.

With that said, I do have some idea whats going on, but please call me in the morning for help..

Your friendly MINI Tuner.

Glenn, Peter prefers to be called around 6am Pacific time...

Ok, not a good joke I guess .

He's a night owl, so probably after 9 or so is better...

It's an issue in the TB wiring.

the ECU doesn't know what it's doing, and goes to limp mode to be safe.

So your the other guy Peter mentioned about installing the AGS this past weekend. I too was bugging him about install tips on the AGS this weekend. Sorry to hear about your problems but I haven't had any problems as of yet with my AGS. Only thing to bug me with the install was a minor vacuum leak on the brass fitting on the throttle body. Some RTV solved that problem.

That's just ONE reason it's great to do business with M7, you can call Peter whenever, and you can always get a hold of him.

Please let us know the outcome and/or the fix.

I sounds like something with the wiring harness extension. Was it soldered and shrink tubed, and did you make sure there were no problems with electrical shorts?

Glad it's all working out...

it's a pain when mods don't work perfectly the very first time. But as long as it all works out, just call it a "learning experience"
