Detroit Tuned Bypass Valve

Ordered my Detroit Tuned Bypass valve yesterday and can't wait to get it installed. I have read all of the post on it already and know that I need to be careful not to break the tabs when installing.

Anyone else have any last minute advice please send it my way

Just take your time and work slowly. Hold off on the celebratory beverages until it's done.

You may want to think about the VGS modification while you're in there. More info if you search "VGS". I recalibrated my own BPV and bought one of the first "Ryephix 2" springs. I have that along with the VGS and am a very happy camper.

This is a great mod and cheap for $125. This is a must for Mini's under 2005. The install took me less than an hour but make sure you go to Home Depot and buy some small 1 3/4"-2" hose clamps to use when you put back on the BPV. Trying to put back on the stock ones are a nightmare, save your self the headache and buy a few of these before the install.

Please let us know if it affects you mpg's and if it increases any rough running or courseness.

If you're going to work on the car a lot...

take the studs out of the intake manifold and use bolts. Then you'll never have to pull so hard on the intake horn to get it off. Just loosen the hose clamps and twist the horn off. I think it's a M7 - 1.00 bolt, but I could be wrong....

The Doc always has good tips! DTBPV is on my short list, just after I finish moving to Asheville NC in January (very close to Dragon), and then finding a house, and then....and then, and then....Why does so much 'life' get in the way of my car?
