unichip help

so im bought a used unichip i want to put it in but there are 2 plugs that go into the unichip piggy back, from the unichip harness. There is a big 1 and a smaller one. I have the the big one pluged into the little piggy back box, but the smaller one has a tape type cover. should i take it off, and have both plugs in the piggy back box.

I dont understand what you mean by a tape type cover, can you provide some pics of what you mean? The Unichip is plug and play so you unplug the 2 connectors going into the ECU, plug those into the Unichip harness, you them plug the Unichip harness into the cars ECU (both plugs) and you are good to go.

You don't plug it, just leave it as is. I believe that's for the suppposed water spray interface that nobody that I've heard has ever used.

Edit: Well after reading the instructions, I really don't know what that is for. The instructions make reference to some sort of "turbo" or "driver" module. Whatever. I installed mine without the shrink wrapped plug and it runs great FWIW.

If you have one of the newer Q models then that is for a bluetooth module that makes it possible to tune the Unichip with a bluetooth capable Pocket PC or the like.
The bluetooth module is available now from a dealer near you.

If worse comes to worse you could always just call Unichip and talk with Jack.

I believe the switch you are refering to is the rocker switch (I believe thats what it is called). This is to alternate between maps on the Unhicip. Map A is for regulat fuel (91 or 93 octane) and Map B (100+ Octane). If you run Map B on pump gas you will be throwing codes and pulling timing so a lot of people who never plan to use this feature tape it off to prevent it from accidentally getting switched.

So to clarify, you have 2 plugs going into the ECU and 2 plugs into the Unichip, right?

one switch is used to change between the maps, the other is for a future add on like a water sprayer. the smaller socket on the the chip is used for programing it. the small plug on the harness is there for future development like the water sprayer.

to find the right switch for the maps turn them on and off till the light lights up, the light is for the higher octane map

hope that helps

Well, I believe what we are talking about here is the connection between the PnP Case and the Unichip computer, which has two plugs, one of which comes with a shrink wrap on it.

I do have the 2 OEM ECU plugs connected to the PnP case and the 2 PnP Connectors from the case to the ECU.

I may have confused everyone by talking about the water sprayer, forget I ever mentioned it, its definitely unrelated.

Ok I think you are right, my mistake. I recently sold my Unichip so I can get the new Q series (most likely, not definite yet though). Now I think I recall what you are refering to and what you are saying makes a lot more sense.

Ok MiniMaxPR was right on then and I was mistaken.. The large white connector is the only one needed to run the Unichip, the other is for add ons that I dont know if they were ever developed or not.
