Gentlemen,

May come up from San Antonio. Mckinney stated that they were getting familiar with suspension upgrades. Is he installing the H-Sport springs ( if brought with us from SA. Wuld it also be a good time to add the mini-madness sway bar to my MCS? , and how do I find out more about install costs for these, and are these mods simple enought for an average do it yourselfer. Although, I am a bit concerned on the spring install as I have never compressed or installed a set of springs.

Also how do the pulley mods affect warranties by Mini?

Keep up the good work

Would love to see if anyone also has any exhausts installed to hear the systems firsthand.

Wow lotsa questions. The average DIY person could do the springs and the swaybar but it's going to be a challenge. You'll be on jackstands and there's all kind of learning that you'll go through. I have the procedure down to 2.5hrs using air tools and having the car on a lift. At $79.00 per hour, this is way less than the dealership rate (if they would even do it) and it's going to take 4-6 hours the first time for a DIY'er depending on what equipment you have.

Next question, exhausts. We will have both the Quicksilver and the Magnaflow exhausts for you to hear. You can even drive my car with everything on it - Madness intake, QS, Pulley, ECU mods, and maybe even the much anticipated THROTTLE BODY!

Let's see what else. Oh the warranty question. I believe this has been answered by MINI via the works offering. The JCW package also uses a 15% reduction pulley and MINI would have a hard time rejecting any warranty claims unless the aftermarket pulley itself failed. Not really likely with the testing that's been done.

I hope this helps. Call Randy to reserve your spot 720 841 1002

micromnstr, Randy is keeping track of this but we have 11 or 12 that I know about. There are still some undecidedes and we may get more confirmations as we get closer to the 20th.

Sounds like fun. Hopefully can make the event, just to be able to talk my wife into what she witnesses.

If you are doing the ECU as well, I will need to get you in as early in the morning as possible due to the time difference between TX and Germany.

On the list not slotted is David W. (requested Sat).

If you don't see your name and you would like to have the pulley and/or ECU programmed, please call. If you do the math, I can take at least one more car. I could take one more each day, so if the demand is high enough, I can do 4 more.

Here are the directions and address:

I35 north, go under the 635 loop and it will be about 20 minutes farther north to the Main Street/Lewisville Exit. Go L and over the bridge and then take the first Left after the service road onto Edmonds Lane. All Tune and Lube is one block down on the right at 510 Edmonds Lane Lewisville, TX 75067.

Again, we are having a social gathering, and I'll be explaining the process as I do the install. Everyone is more than welcome to watch and come as early as you like and stay as long as we are there. Sunday we are doing a car to the hilt with a new intercooler, brakes and full suspension as well as the pulley and ECU, so that may be something to watch.

Can't wait to see everyone!

Randy

A few tips from the organizer of the Southern Ohio Pulley mod and former Dallas resident.
If you've ever thought about the pulley DO IT.You will never have the opportunity to get it done for less money or by someone as qualified as Randy. It is the most bang for the buck that you'll ever get for the Mini.
If you're ready,do the ECU;it's the sauce on the Texas Brisket.
Speaking of food, feed Randy.Unless you put food in front of him,he won't stop for breakfast or lunch.
If you have a free evening, take him to Javier's.My Spanish is weak, but I assume it's still over by Highland Park.Randy enjoys good food and neat architecture.
He's not much of a drinker,so you'll never get him drunk enough to quit talking about cars.
Don't make too much fun of the people who are completely annal about their cars,it's the only excitment in their lives.

Mikehome1,

Thanks for those tips. We are really looking forward to this and Randy won't be hungry. You know what's really neat? We've got folks from all over Texas and one person from New Orleans coming to this event. This is all about Randy and the MINI. Isn't that fantastic! I've even got people not doing upgrades stopping by to meet Randy! Thisd is going to be way cool!

Gosh!! Although I told you that I want to stay stock until next summer, this is tempting... I'll just wait. Starting a business is expensive!!

Graham,
Will your mechanics be available or will you have the EBC brake pads in stock for change outs?

No, I don't have the EBC pads in stock. I should though you're the 2nd person that's asked for them.

Just got back from Grahams' shop. I'd encourage everyone to head over there, even if you're not getting work done, just to check out the MINIs and BS with the other owners. Randy is sweating his **** off in our Texas heat, cranking out those pulleys; you gotta check out his MINI.

Wish I could be there, I'm down here in SA on call. Tell Randy his favorite annoying customer sez "Howdy, welcome to TX". Get some barbeque into that guy, mebbe Sonny's? If he wants to see some curvy roads, send him down here to hill country.
I have nearly 900mi on the Works now, car nearly broken in

I just got back from Big D this afternoon. Randy has this down to a science....~40 minutes from start to finish. This has to be the most exciting upgrade anyone could do to their car... Simple, inexpensive and very effective. Randy drove me down the street right after the install to feel the difference, and I was completely speechless.
Randy,
Thank you for sharing your know how and providing this service to the Mini Community.
Graham,
Thank you for letting us occupy your service bays.
I wish I could have stayed longer to meet everyone coming in. I hear they are doing a massive project tomorrow, and I would have loved to see that.
Talk to all soon,
RW

What a rockin' weekend! MINIS everywhere! Randy worked his butt off and seemed to have a lot of fun doing it. He's still out in the shop working on installing a $4000 package on the last car that came in from New Orleans. One visitor to the shop took some pictures which can be found here:

Enjoy!

I have to agree, great gathering just wish I could have stayed around longer. Much, much thanks to Graham for allowing access to his bays to do the work (and for letting me leapfrog him at the last minute so I could get on the road sooner), as well as Randy for his drive down form CO to evolve our cars while carrying on continued dialog with all of us and explaining everything he was doing (including the pop).
As for the upgrades, I had the pulley done on Fri which was a great improvement. Didn't get ECU upgrade until Sun because of technical difficulties, but got about the same improvement again. Much more urgency when you get on the throttle like the tires are barely hanging on. Made for a great drive back to Austin. Also noticed that the exhaust note seems more throaty and slightly louder while the blower whine is considerably more noticeable (stock exaust and intake).
All together, would recommend them to anyone on the fence or otherwise as an added kick in the pants to a MCS that is already a blast.
Thanks again Graham and Randy,
Brandan

This Pulley ROCKS!!!!! I am very impressed! This thing just keeps pulling all the way to the limiter. And Randy is just impressive to watch. Thanks a lot Randy for doing all of this for us and Thanks a lot to Grahamm for letting us use your shop and keeping us hydrated. This was definately one of the best bang-for-buck mods I've ever done to a car. Thanks a lot!!

I'll dyno it on Wed, So I'll post results shortly thereafter

Just got the pulley and ECU done by Randy in Dallas. I had the pulley and ECU done on different days, and therefore was able to drive the car with the pulley and no ECU change, and then with the ECU added. Ok, the verdict: Fork over the dough; the ECU feels like it adds as much extra power to the pulley as the pulley does to the stock S. In my opinion, it is an awful lot of bang for the buck, and well worth the money. Show me ANY other mod that has this much impact.
Randy and Graham, thanks again for the great time.

You'd better get ready! There isn't anything like this out there for instant gratification! Our Dallas install is over and Randy has created a whole bunch of horses that weren't here before! Hard charging MINIS!

OMG, my car acts like it's on a serious mission! It'll take awihle to get used to all of this! Whatever happened to my cute little car? (that's what my neighbors callled it). I now have an untamed beast in the garage! But that's what I wanted!

Hi Ron!
We are all enjoying the fantastic ride! Randy was obsessed! But we are too! Now about the pulley club. Great club to be in. How do I get out of the stumble club I'm also in so I can enjoy my puley club even more?

No I had the stumble virus before the pulley/ECU party. It's no worse now, nor is it better. I have learned to drive around it UNTIL MINI FIXES THE FREAKIN' THING ! I just had my wife drive the car to see what she thought about the awesome horsepower. She thought that that was unbelieveable but she had the thing bucking off the line due to the stumble and could noty get a launch right in ten miles of driving.
