What all is included with the price of Thumper Head? valves, springs retainers, cam???

I think you were seeing the results of the car not pulling timing letting you see all your power....

No doubt! It proves though that you will get higher numbers with a higher octane fuel.

Ya mean if I fill the tank with SuperHigh Octane, then I'll get a sneak preview of what a ported head will be?

Thumpers Head

Leo... get it on yet??

The Head comes with all the gaskets ( V/c, Head, intake, exh..) Springs are set to specs and then a 5 angle performance valve job.. on STOCK size valves!! Increases the low lift flow at the valve.. and rocks when under boost!!

I try to sorta custom do the head to the needs of the drivers... being small I like the personel touch.. LOL

Rocking numbers TampaMCS!! ALLblack is cooking with the stock cam/header/i/c....

Just me...................................

Wow, I swear I thought the trip was gonna be shorter... Rain, traffic, construction, got lost... you name it, it happened.

All right, good news is that I've got the head on the car right now, and even though I was instructed NOT to go over 4K RPMs (until the cam and head "settle" themselves a little.. break them in, whatnot)... I could still tell that there's a major difference in the engine.

It just wants to go!! I can't wait to let it loose on 5K+ RPMs tomorrow/the day after... It should be a blast! So far, I'm very satisfied, Thumper!

Thank you again, and your core will be in the UPS store tomorrow/Monday the latest. Should I send it to the same address as my first envelope?

Thanks,
Leo.

PS: Dyno results to come before the end of the month, and later in Jan/Feb with an upgraded ECU re-map.

congrats on the great numbers......

what are the specs? flow numbers and what size valves +1.... +2 ?

as far as matching the header simply use the gasket as a template..... it is the right size.... (thanks Justin)

your A/F seems a bit lean ...... are you concerned? I am running a conservative 11.5..... there is more power where you are but what about safety?

regardless..... great numbers

SpiderX.. he has stock valves with a performance Valve job ( flow back cut on the valve) I dont publish flow numbers... LOL just look what happens on dyno graphs.. LOL see my Site for details on the head ( However, THAT is being updated as we speak..) I have found that the bigger valve isnt needed for dual purpose cars.. as there is too many issues with flat spots and loss of bottom end... and I didnt want that. A good Valve job and a few solid performance tricks will give all the HP increase ( with room to still pull more as the mods increase) that most guys need and want!! Shoot me an Email if you wish...

PM sent

the M62, it has been determined can really benefit from +2 exhaust valves..... I currently have +1..... this may not be worth fooling with but I have seen small changes make large differences......

an excellent question......... when I used to fly a Mooney 201 all leaning was done with the EGT ...... it would be cool to play with A/F on the "fly" ... no pun intended

I don't know as I dont have an EGT guage installed. Engine tuning is stock JCW. I wish it were a little richer, but I am researching tuning options as we speak.

Here are the other runs from that day:

Also, this being said, I am not crazy about using this dyno, but the one I normally use had a VW dyno day going on this particular day and couldnt get us in. I plan on hitting the dyno again in January.

If the EGT is low enough you can run it, on the leaner side, without a problem, however you need a known delta ( possibly from someone that has track car ). As Bob points out there is good power to be had but at what cost.
IMHO you realy need to know the EGT.
Racing piston port, you are always adjusting AF for power, so you don't hole the piston, the EGT is the tell tail.

At 13 - 13.5 you will get great power right up until it blows (alledgedly)

the truth is I don't know for sure but those who do have made these comments to me in my own tuning

someone with a lot more tuning experience should comment..... I have never had the nerve to lean until it blows....

flying small planes and leaning for best power while running safe EGTs transfers to the Mini but i do not know that EGT number and do not have an EGT readout.....again,.. some help would be good here as well......

unless you lean to failure/knock/pinging you really might just be repeating what you have been told.... (I can do that) anyone testing their knock sensor

Will running 100+ octane or no cat cause this to be better or worse?
