Stiffer engine mount options

I know a stabilizer shock is available, but I'm researching other methods in addition to this devise - and if anyone has installed this engine damper I would love to read your review. I've already blown one hydralic mount, but I suspect another somehwere is also on its way out.

I'm running the PowerFlex bushings and like them.
Some NVH is added but worth it IMO.
It's an '02

I run an engine damper similar to the one sold here on NAM by Lord of the Flies (search vendor forum) on an 05 with the "newer" engine mounts. They seem to flex more than the earlier units and the damper has reduced for-aft movement considerably. However at the price of more vibration at idle--a price worth paying to get my bonnet seals to work better.

I installed the damper from Texas werks, very professional kit. The brackets are well designed and everything fit without problems. I did not notice an increase in vibration at idle but that's me. Your results might vary.

Okay everyone, thanks! All that track work has softened the stock mounts considerably!

I got the large powerflex upper and lower poly inserts.
Put the upper one in a couple weeks ago, less shift and a little vibration
at 800-900 rpm, especially when the a/c is on...not objectionable.
Just put in the lower one and even less shift, and, interestingly, less vibration
than with the upper alone! (but a little more than stock).
I don't think the small bushings will be necessary, nor the transmission mount insert.

Check out the GTT lower strut bar.

Plus, Randy at m7tuning has a bunch of lower stabalizer reinforcements!

The lower braces you talk about have nothing to do with the motor mounts in question. The lower braces only stiffens the suspension..

Meb
I thought you were selling the MINI.

I have done this on other car's. I used silicone form a gasket and filled the voids in the stock rubber bushings.
Been thinking about using hot melt glue this time on the MINI to firm up the mounts.

I had a set of the Ireland engine and tranny mount inserts installed before we released our damper kit - major, major improvement that came with quite a bit more NVH, though. They were flippin' awesome for the track/AX, so I sometimes reinstall them (in addition to the damper kit) for DE's.

We're installing the Powerflex lower engine mount bushings with good results. As was said above, there is a little more vibration at idle, but not too bad.

I thought you were selling the MINI.

The first post is in regard to the hydrolic mount... which does not stiffn the suspension... also the lower rear mount does not stiffen the suspension... is that the mount that you thought i was talking about???

And yes i do sell minis... and i modify them... Most sales consultants couldn't tell you the differnce between a dual mass flywheel and a single mass... or a progressive rate spring or a fixed rate...

I installed the Texas Speedworks kits on both cars. The '05 Cabrio had 20k miles - no more shudder and bucking off throttle. I put a kit on the '06 as soon as we bought it to keep the OEM mounts in good shape.

One note - I had to do a fair amount of file work on the brackets to get them to clear the cast aluminum angine cradle and the TMIC tanks. I also had to enlarge one mounting hole on each kit. Not a big deal, but a little further from 'plug and play'. I think I had early kits....perhaps they can comment on the design changes since.

Go too mini2.com under suspension. GTT has two posts about an upper strut bar and the two lower that they have come out with.
Hope that helps.

Here's the thread

I've had the OMP bar for around a year. Money well spent.
I just installed GTT's other bar. Won't be doing any events for a while but so far on the street it makes a nice addition.
Now someone needs to firm up the rear the same way. Something better than the current rear strut brace kits that have been around for a while..

I think Roland has started a project on a rear bar for under the car.

To answer YOUR QUESTION………….

I installed the “Lord of the Flies” engine damper on my 05 S, as per the enclosed instructions with no problems. The Mini has 6K miles and used only for spirited driving on the street.

There was a noticeable improvement in shifting (tighter) and acceleration (a bit quicker). I have zero vibration when at idle or any other time.

Very happy and satisfied with this Mod.

Does the same thing as those polyurethane inserts, raise’s the Durometer rating of the bushing and limits travel, sorry no vinyl stickers.

it was a much better option than paying about 700 dollars for a set of mounts that did the same exact thing.
