Drivetrain New Samco Intake Hose for MCS
So the guy that was workin the case got fired... that's not good. But I re-established contact with their North American Distributor to make sure everything goes well... there are a LOT more colors than I thought... so I'll let you guys know what's available.
I believe the one they sell is the blue one in the picture at the beginning of this thread. What is the protrusion on the stock snockel? See the attachment.
Is there high tech constant tension polished clamps available for these hoses? Put me down for a blue hose.

Oh boy
now I have to deduce that removing the stock snorkel and replacing it with a hose without a resonator will cause a loss of throttle reponse
Intake noise is OK by me

Samco recieved the OEM piece already and are doing the Prototyping, they're overseas so it's kinda hard to communicate with them directly. Either way, they're going to give me a price ASAP.
Wait a second here. The snorkel we are discussing here is the hose from the air vent on the front grill to the stock (or ALTA) airbox, correct? It does not attach directly to the throttle body. How does it affect throttle response? Please explain.
Anyone know why this thread is now in the Stock Problems/Issues category? Does not seem like the correct place. I would think it should be in the Modifications-Drivetrain forum category. Anyone know how to get it moved?
I was speaking in generalities about the use of a resonator, not specific to the MINI design. Some cars it does hurt throttle response to remove it. Notsomuch the MINI.
Second, there are two paths for air to be inducted into the air box, so no it will not be under vacuum... or at least enough vacuum to create a collapse if that's what you're wondering. These hoses are pretty tough, if you've ever handled one. They hold their shape and are used to being under Boost/Vacuum..
Possibly I missed this. Can you verify which hose you are trying to get made. If both can we just get the SC induction hose (CAI hose). Lastly, does anybody have a ballpark price. I am interested if its a nice deal.
I don't what I was thinking ,this hose is just the one attached to the front of the car and to the air cleaner box. Would'nt see too much vacuum. k_h_d,I circled the hose being replaced in a photo and posted it in in this thread.Megan Racing could confirm this.
First off... why did this thread get moved?!

The thread didn't move, the forum changed names/purposes
I DO think this thread would be better served in the Modifications Forum though. I'll PM a mod and see if they can move it
Just PM'ed Minihune to see if he can move this.

I have reviewed this thread and moved it from Stock problems/issues to
Modifications: Drivetrain (Cooper S).
Might be interesting to run dyno numbers before and after installing the one or two hoses esp the lower hose from front cowl to the intake. Does it make any difference? Does it weigh any less or more? Will it be cosmetic or functional? Will the rear airbox mod or alta intake box (open rear) make a difference for these hoses?

I don't think it'll be too much of a gain, I think ALTA already did a test like that and they said that they didn't notice any gains with the tube except with those who had larger throttle bodies. As for the new hose being developed.. I just figured it would increase efficiency a little bit... I don't expect it to even register on the Dyno. But we'll see, I suppose.. I might get bored and dyno my car for the hell of it.
I was reading through the 2007 SCCA autocross rulebook for stock classes and it's not legal to change the hoses that lead into and out of the stock airbox even if the stock filter is untouched.
Just something to keep in mind.
So do the hoses look neat? Pictures please.

I don't think they have made them yet so unless someone can Photostop a view we'll have to wait.
