Cooper S Automatic Help!!!

I have bought a 2005 Mini Cooper S Automatic in US with a little damage´s in the right front end. I have had pulled of the engine and transmission and is now nearly finished with the car. BUT I have a problems with where to put gearoil in the automatic gearbox. Does anyone knows where the check screw is in an automatic Cooper S. I have called some dealers in Denmark., but they can´t/will help me. I also has to know what type of oil to use and how much. One other problems is that I am missing an right Drive shaft (Front Axle) and this is special for an automatic car. Does anyone knows where to find an used axle for my car. I can buy a new, but it is a little expensive, I think.

Regarding your transmission fluid questions, if you have drained the fluid out of the torque converter, you will have to refill it before starting up the car and engaging the transmission. Likewise with the transmission body and fluid. For the fluid in the pan that is at the bottom of the transmission, fill to the level of the overflow pipe (item number 7 in the diagram at: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...65&hg=24&fg=15 ) with the car perfectly level on all four frame jack points. Regarding a source for the fluid, your MINI dealer will have the right fluid. There probably are aftermarket sources for the fluid, but not knowing the distribution model in the EU, I couldn't even guess how to get the fluid from the aftermarket.

Thanks, I will try this tomorrow. I have ordered the original gearoil, I will not take any risk and fill normal red automatic oil on my car, because I do not know if it is the rigt oil. Do you know anywhere, where to find a right drive shaft. A new costs about 420 USD, but an used parts will be fine for me to half price.

Sorry, but I have no idea for sourcing a used drive shaft in the EU.

I have found the overflow pipe, but not where to put in the oil. I have found 3 screws which looks like some oilfill whole´s, but they wasn´t. Can you tell me where I shall find that screw.

The fill bolt is part of the overflow pipe (at the base of the pipe - item 5 in the previously referenced diagram). You will also need to replace the o-ring/gasket when you remove the bolt. To fill the transmisison pan will require some sort of vacuum pump that you fill with the new transmission fluid and then with a flexible hose pump the new fluid into the transmission pan through the overflow pipe. Be sure to do the filling with the car PERFECTLY LEVEL (not just up on 4 jack stands). If you don't fill with the car perfectly level, you run the risk of either under- or over- filling the transmission pan.

Have you any idea how much oil, the automatic gearbox can contain. I have filled approx 5 litres, but I am not sure, about this is right. The gearbox was empty, because I have taken the oil pan off the because of a little damage.

No idea how much fluid the transmission body itself holds. To date, I have just done the drain the transmission oil pan, refill, run for 5 miles drain the pan, etc. service. Presumably if you fill the transmission through the transmission fluid cooler fitting (with the fluid cooler removed) you will fill the torque converter and the transmisison body. Fill until the new fluid flows out the overflow pipe and you should be done. However, I have no idea how much fluid that requires.

After you get fluid flowing out of the overflow pipe, I would do a re-check of the fluid level after taking the car for a short drive (~5 miles). There may be trapped air that gets expelled during the short drive that lowers the fluid level in the transmission pan. If that happens, you will need to top off the fluid level in the pan.

Can anyone help me what type of gearoil, I have to use on an automatic gearbox on a 2005 Cooper S Automatic. Is it a normal autogearoil or is it a very special oil.

It is probably one of the standard automatic transmission fluids, but which one? About 12 months ago, I sent an e-mail to Aisin-Warner with a request for information regarding which transmission fluid to use. I even included links to the Mobil 1 site for automatic transmission fluid that Exon-Mobil sell. Guess what - no reply. So, it would seem that the safest course of action would be to buy the transmission fluid from the MINI dealer. Buying from the MINI dealer will be the most expensive, but safest option.

Yes, maybe I might do that. But I have a BIG problem. I have had my first trip in the car after I have repaired it after a frontcrash. But the automatic gearbox is in safe mode and will not work right. In the display in the instruments stands "EP" which means that there are something wrong, referrring to the owners manual. Any good ideas what the problem might be. Where can I find the electrical diagram of my car. Is there any ways to pull out all the failcodes of the ECM without visiting a Mini dealer.
